It's clear we all should have been on the advertising team for the new film.

V'Ger is perfect to deal with. If 2001 is popular still today, I'm fairly certain that TMP re-made minus the fluff will be just as fantastic.

My theory is no. I have a strong feeling that the person who is going to make this "personal" for Kirk is Admiral Pike. My money is they are going to kill Pike off.

But it wouldn't make any money. Certainly not enough to cover Into Darkness' $185 million budget.

It sounds like it will probably be a nice action flick. I'm not sure about detonating a fleet. Detonating, to me, is done with an explosive device. Warp cores can detonate, so I guess they blew up the ships?? It doesn't matter. Explosions in action movies are good. I read a lot of "Kirk"s. If this movie picks up right after the next one then how do they become like family that fast? I just hope the next movie can be about Spock (with some focus on Uhura, and if they stay together...), especially since that's looking to be Zachary's (or this crew's) last.

Heart of Darkness is by Joseph Conrad.
-and he also wrote Lord Jim! That's a huge clue.
Kirk is the Squire of Gothos!

After Abrams signs off, we can have Michael Bay's Star Trek.

No offense to him, but avoiding someone like Michael Bay doing Star Trek is exactly why JJ was needed in the director's chair.

The only Bay film I've seen is The Island, in my library. At least he kept the explosions to a minimum. And it was nice to see Ethan Phillips without Neelix on his face.

I thought The Island was underrated.

I saw Bad Boys, and that was good for an action/buddy film. Transformers 1 and 3 were okay with some nice special effects. Transformers 2 was terrible and offensive, and allegedly the most Bay influenced. That's my Bay experience.

I think Mr. Bay can make nice action films, but JJ strikes me as a thinker. Trek needed that, and a new direction, imo.

The synopsis for Into Darkness makes me want to read the one for Star Trek 2009. I want to see if that had any goofy writing in it like "detonated the fleet". i can't find it anywhere though...
