    No.

Real-life bad guys would shoot him in the face instead of forgetting that they're holding firearms and trying to use them as bludgeons.

Yes. No one else knows the condition of your TV, therefore there was nothing to laugh at.

But what about his genius IQ, ultra athletic body? Mastery of all the world's martial arts?

Well I give. Was I the only laughing his ass off about why there even is a TV in a isolated prison in the middle of nowhere?

    Eh.....Never-mind.

Doesn't he only come out at night wearing dark clothes and stays in the shadows sneaking up on people?

Funny enough, a real world Batman would kill people just by knocking them down. Since knocking people unconscious will more than likely kill a person or severely damage them . In keeping with the topic, yes Batman is insane, but insane in the sense of being severely mentally deranged. No matter what, even in a universe as fantastical as the one Bruce Wayne occupies it certainly is a crazy idea. Batman is also crazy in the sense he endangers little kids by having them assist in his crime fighting, wearing their underwear in public with a domino mask. Even after the murder of the second kid sidekick, he still willingly allows kids to assist him.

Also it's not as easy to shoot someone as you may think, particularly if they're moving quickly. The '66 TV Batman and Robin may have liked to pose and declaim before attacking their enemies, but their enemies usually didn't have guns. A more modern Batman wouldn't stand still to give them a clear target.

I'm remembering how the Mythbusters tested the saying "Don't bring a knife to a gunfight." They found that it actually is surprisingly feasible to battle a gunman with only a knife. It's possible to throw a knife (or batarang) and hit an opponent before they can draw, aim, and fire, and at close quarters (within 16 ft) it's possible to close to knifing (or in Batman's case, punching) range before the opponent can bring the gun to bear and fire.

And of course there's the added element of fear that Batman embraces. It's harder for someone to draw, aim, and fire a gun if they're scared out of their wits by this big bat creature swooping down on them. If they do fire, their aim is likely to be off, and not only due to fear and haste; part of the reason Batman wears a cape is to obscure his profile so people don't know where they're shooting. Plus he has body armor. His exposed chin is going to be a very difficult target to hit under those circumstances.

What about crime going on during the day? Is he basically useless against it?

Who's going to be afraid of a guy dressed in a bat suit? Hell, what would happen if he did at Halloween. I mean in general the guy will look goofy and silly no matter what you do.

This is why he should be naked... yeah you heard me right - naked except for the boots, glooves, belt, mask and cape.

Think about it - you are mugging some old lady in an alleyway when suddenly a guy in a gimp mask with a hard-on comes run at you - by the time you've made sense of what you have seen, he's knocked you out.

Again: Night. Dark. Shadows. Hard to identify the big dark thing coming at you very fast out of the corner of your eye. Maybe all you see is something that looks like it has wings and devil horns. See Batman: Year One, the police briefing about the eyewitness reports from Batman's victims, including Detective Flass. Many of them insist they were attacked by a monster rather than a man. Or look at the B:TAS episode "P.O.V.," where things happen so fast that the rookie cop thinks Batman has superpowers when he's just using his gadgets. Human perceptions are very fallible, especially when dealing with the unusual. We often don't see things for what they actually are.

Plus, you know, criminals are a superstitious, cowardly lot, so...

Burn Notice is an example of a modern day Batman. Liked it very much. Also Kung Fu had the same task of fighting evil with his special knowledge of Karate. There were plenty of others - Nemo Williams - The paralyzed guy in an exo suit or what have you. Well you know why I bring it up because it seems that James Holmes is not crazy after all and is gonna get executed.

Eh, no offense but this post doesn't really have much ground. The perpetrator of that massacre's final fate has yet to reach a verdict. Furthermore, there is still a very strong case to made for this guy being insane. Prior to committing that heinous act he was already meeting with a psychiatrist(who detected signs of dangerous homicidal urges from him, and sought to warn the university of this before he dropped out). If anything, he shouldn't even be thrown the death penalty charge because it would only let him off easy and put him out of his misery, not to mention it would take 10 to 20 years for the execution to even commence. In stark contrast to his victims, he would be killed in a non-violent way through lethal injection. Now a proper resolution would be life without parole, similar to what the suspect in the Tuscon mass-killings got which would lead to the whole thing being resolved without need for the long, complicated trial process to transpire. The prosecutors should've have just accepted the guilty plea been done with it, unfortunately they allowed their inner self-righteousness, along with being swayed by emotional sympathy for the victims family to prevent them from making the proper choice.

Now it's going to be a long, long, time for that guy to receive justice, which means emotions of the victims families and friends will be running high without closure for a long dreadful time. God help us all.

trying to explain how Batman would work in the real world is silly. He wouldn't. He'd be killed shortly after the start of his career as a vigilante. Hardened criminals with big guns aren't going to be scared of a guy in a bat costume with clever gadgets. And it would be impossible for Batman to ensure that he wasn't actually killing the criminals he fought, especially while fighting a group of them at once while his own life was in danger.

Leaving aside the issue of how one guy randomly patrolling the streets and beating up thugs for a few hours a night is actually going to make a big difference. When it comes down to it, Batman's as much fantasy as any other comic hero.

I heard he was given the death penalty but if any one is crazy and insane it's got to be him. No? Where did he get these guns? Now that casinos have been isolated and localized I did see a guns and ammo shop in a Burn Notice episode. Don't have those in NYC I don't think, but Florida is notoriously lawless almost like Gotham, except not as currupt as say Jersey - the toxic wasteland. They're still looking for Corzine and the millions he stole. They'll probably find him hiding in the closet sobbing having spent it all on some hooker. A story as old as balony.

    Yes, for about three days.

    This.

He'd be killed by the bad guys, arrested as a vigilante, or injure himself too badly to go into action again. Or more than one of the above, most likely.

Who would win, Batman or Tarzan? What happened to Plastic man and aquaman. I like it when they team up like the Avengers. Singularly, they can be boring.

Neither, they'd fight until they realize they were being duped by the real villain.

Plasitc Man and Aquaman? They were in the JLA together during Morrison's, run but I don't recall them teaming up outside of that.

The prosecutors are seeking the death penalty. He hasn't been tried, convicted or sentenced yet.

NYC doesn't have gun shops? Guess again.

All I know is that on the Shit scale Bat falls only slightly below Ape.

    That's still pretty crazy.
