A tribble's sound, when hit,

 

resembled that of a coconut

 

which has soaked in vinegar

 

for several days and then

 

grown a thick coat of

 

algae. The sound disgusted many

 

people -- but not Sulu, because

 

as a small child he

 

subsisted on vinegar-soaked coconuts

 

for days on end while

 

camping in the algae forests.

 

Taking his cricket bat, he

 

swung just as the bag

 

of magic beans that McCoy

 

sold him fell out of

 

his waistband and spilled all

 

over the deck where Kirk

 

slipped on them and fell.
