I'll start it off with this image I made this morning... A warp field dynamics seminar given by Commodore Stone at Star Base 11.
I had played with a number of screen illustration ideas before reaching that one... here are a couple of the rejected ideas.
I don't know why, but I am consistently unable to see any of the images that Shaw posts. They sound so good!
Riker: Three centuries later, and you'd think that they would have better swill than this to drink on starbases. ____________________________ Oooops. This is not the caption thread. Sorry. Could not restrain myself.
Having a hard core Trekkie in your household: $0 Hearing hard core Trekkie ranting about how the new Star Trek movie gets things wrong: $0 Seeing the hard core Trekkie gushing about Star Trek after seeing it: Priceless
Actually at the time I made it I hadn't seen the similarity, but you are right, they look quite a like. The surface being displayed in that image is the same one I'm currently using for my avatar (seen from a different angle).
No body believed Spock when he said they were being watched... they were very, very mistaken. Kirk: Was that there the last time we were here?
Thanks man. Because both Voyager and TNG are my fav Trek shows, TNG/VOY Crossover is one of my fav themes when fiddling pics.
Hmmmm. Apparently your site is blocked at my workplace. That must be it. I'll try again from home tonight!
I'm pretty satisfied with how the Doctor and Tuvok came out. Finding a decent image of Chakotay that would work was tough... I think I got a pretty good one, except for the lighting being a bit off. I darkened the hands a bit to more closely match his facial complexion. Getting the head size just right is a bit tricky... I try to judge it by matching the facial features scale with the original. The hand size differences make it difficult as well (head should be small for the foreground hand and large for the background hand). Any suggestions on improvement?
I don't find the lightning problematic. I would suggest that you'd resize Chakotay's head shot a little bit smaller. Maybe Doc's head shot could have a little less contrast in it. Not much, but just a little bit. It could do the trick. Overall, the pic is very good.
My first impressions were that Chakotay's head should be a wee bit smaller, and the doctor seems a little brightly lit. Tuvok is spot-on, though.
