Why he didn't try harder to bring Michael Bourn back boggles my mind. Revere is an exciting guy because of his legs and glove, but he's got a terrible arm.

Yeah, Good trade for the Twins. I'm surprised they got as much as they did for Revere- he's a marginal player at best and they potentially got more in that trade then they did trading away Denard Span.

Glad to see the Twins shoring up their pitching even if they did trade away 2/3 of their outfield in the process.

Bourn's looking for a contract north of $100 million, which probably priced him out of the Phillies' budget.

Revere can run really fast, but he takes terrible routes on fly balls and, as you said, he has a cooked noodle for an arm. He's Juan Pierre 2.0, except Pierre actually had a little bit of pop. Revere somehow has zero home runs in more than 1,000 major league at-bats. In terms of value, he is well below replacement level.

As expected, but holy shit, what a terrible deal for Philadelphia. The Rangers got rid of Young, only had to pay half his salary, and got a prospect and a decent reliever in return. Just as a reality check, Young's 2011 performance that people are citing as his possible ceiling was his third-best offensive season in his career, and he's 36. He's going to hit like Polanco and field like ... well, Michael Young.

Greinke looks to be going to the Dodgers for 6 / 145, which actually feels like an underpay (especially coming from the Dodgers). That basically leaves Hamilton as the last major free agent on the market.

Stop fucking around with Dom Brown and promote him to the majors for good, hang onto Worley and May and see how they develop (May's future is in the bullpen, but a cost-controlled reliever with a world-class arm is a genuine asset), and not get fucking retarded and burn huge amounts of money / assets on Ben Revere and Michael Young. Young is 36 and likely to regress horribly in the near-term (his home / away splits are astounding) and the Phillies paid him money to get him to waive his no-trade clause, in addition to sending over two more top prospects.

There is nothing about that deal which makes sense for Philadelphia.

The Dodgers have a half-billion dollars committed to five players:

    • Zack Greinke is about to earn approximately $147 million through 2018.
    • Adrian Gonzalez is owed $127 million through 2018.
    • Carl Crawford is due $102.5 million through 2017.
    • Matt Kemp has $108 million coming through 2019.
    • Andre Ethier is owed $85 million through 2017.

And there is a non-zero chance that Kershaw gets north of $200 million on his contract.

    Holy buckets.

Huge deal went down just now between the Rays and Royals. Sending James Shields and Wade Davis to K.C. and Rays get Wil Myers, Jake Odorizzi, Mike Montgomery and Patrick Leonard.

Wow, what a haul for the Rays, though it sounds absolutely horrendous for the Royals.

I hope to awaken to find that Dayton Moore has already been fired. What a terrible fucking trade for KC.

As a Tampa Bay fan, the screams of KC fans are music to my ears! Truthfully, a lot of TB fans are pissed off that we didn't get any "major league" players. If Myers flops this could go down as a really terrible trade for TB and end up in the "Salary Dump" Hall of Shame.

I'll say this to KC fans, you may not know Davis now, but he can be a really solid starter for you. He spent last year in the pen after being squeezed out, but he learned a lot about being aggressive and throwing strikes early after doing way too much nibbling as a starter in 2011. You got two really good pitchers. Who got the best of this deal is not going to be known for some time.
