I think it has more to do with "excessive cleanliness," as I have decided to call it for the purposes of this thread. In the U.S., we clean, anti-bacterialize, and de-germify everything. There's nothing wrong with being clean, and not stinking, but we have certainly taken it to an entirely new level.
I'm definitely more towards neat freak than not. I think it's more about being particular than obsessing over cleaning. It also has to do with how easily I get sick.
Whatever smells nice works form me. ETA: As long as I don't smell like sweat, garbage or poo I am happy.
Everyday. Twice if work causes me to work up a serious sweat. Wash my hair daily, too. Bed head is too kind a phrase for what I wake up with.
I noticed that, too. When I was in LA for the first time, they had a sewer spill at the beach and actually poured Chlorine solution over the beach! An ecological catastrophy, a thousand times larger than the few cubic feet of sewage. I had the very same thought, only I didn't dare to say it on a board full of Americans (Pretty curageous of you! If now you need asylum from the lynch mob you're welcome at my place any time. And the chocolate cookie offer still stands. I also do a damned good ginger bread) Btw, who is the gentleman in your new avatar, teacake? What a beautiful backside!
I shower twice, daily. Looking my best is very important to me. Cleanliness is definitely where looking - and feeling - great begins.
