Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino have announced that they will be continuing LoK in a series of graphic novels published by Dark Horse Comics. They have plans for three volumes. DiMartino will write and Konietzko will consult on the art. They said there will be a focus on the Korrasami relationship.
Hopefully their ability at animation storytelling translates to comicbook storytelling. But DH really should build up the Avatarverse to replace the loss of SW. I just hope it doesn't go the way of the Buffy Seasons.
Storyboards and comics aren't that different. A number of comics artists do storyboard work in movies. So it's evidently not that hard to adapt.
This is great news! The Avatar TLA post-season 4 comics have been really great. Let's hope the Korra comics are as good!
I figured that this would come to pass but it's still great news. I've been buying the large hardcover editions of The Last Airbender graphic novels instead of the individual issues, so that's what I'll do with Korra as well.
I got the hardcover edition of the second series, but it's too big for the shelves where I keep my general comics, so I have to have it lying flat on top of other stuff, which is really awkward. Is there, perchance, a smaller edition of the collected/annotated versions?
I forgot to mention that Bryan Konietzko is going to be working on his own unrelated comic books series. Threadworlds by Bryan Konietzko I thought I saw something about Michael Dante DiMartino doing one too, but I can't find anything about it now.
