^^I don't see it. A bit too mature, for one thing.

Yeah, but not knowing who Dylan is can actually be a good thing for some people (says the person who was scarred for life by her best friend singing Def Leppard's "Photograph" in her best Dylan impression, which will warp your brain for life). From that moment on I've been unable to hear any Dylan song without that breaking into my brain.

And if you haven't at least heard Alice's Restaurant, cleanse yourself, you uncleansed heathen! Just listen to it the next time it comes around on the guitar!

Actually, I can't stand Dylan. I'd sooner drive an icepick through my ears than listen to him sing. There isn't a song that he's written which hasn't been made more palatable by someone else. And no, I don't mean Hendrix.

And that was my point. Love him or hate him, everyone should know who Dylan is, because his influence has been that widespread. The Guthries are on a similar plane, but the present generation has no clue who they are. In twenty years, that will probably happen to Dylan... and that's scary.

I also know who Bob Dylan is, I must admit though before a couple of years ago I hadn't really listened to any of his music until my girlfriend at the time put on on of his albums on a particularly long car journey. :bolian:

I'm sorry, that's kinda like getting Bob Dylan and Bob Newhart muddled up...

"Um, uh, h-hello? Mr. Tambourine Man? Yes, um, c-could you play a song for me?"

    LMAO.

But honestly, if someone had heard of them, but hadn't actually heard them, getting the names mixed up wouldn't be that hard...

That's quite true. I believe that as a child, I had trouble distinguishing between Bob Dylan and poet Dylan Thomas. They were just names to me.

^ Especially since Bobby Zimmerman changed his name to Bob Dylan to name himself after Dylan Thomas. :)

^ Me, I get Bob Marley and Bob Greenberger mixed up. Which always makes for an awkward scene at Shore Leave............

Just had a thought. With Arlo Guthrie as the template, does this mean Sonek Pran is fond of travelling on New Orleans-class vessels? ;)

And upthread y'all were talking about Reyes. I've always envisioned Tommy Lee Jones in that role. Anyone mentions "Olmos" and "Trek" and I invariably think "Kruge", because he almost was that.

You have GOT to be kidding. :wtf:

I know of only one other actor who was up for Picard (Stephen Macht, i.e. General Krim from DS9). Are you seriously telling me EJO also was?

Anyway. Another good Tommy Lee Jones role would have been Trip's father on ENT. For some reason TLJ seems very Trip-like to me.

Also: Morgan Freeman as Tuvok's father. You *know* you want it.
