Apparently there is some doubt as to why I found the fact of a hotmail-addy funny.

There might be a cultural component involved: here that particular brand of e-mail address is only used by horny teenagers, hackers, adulterers, and other people who have something to hide... it is considered very poor taste to, say, apply for a job from a hotmail-address.

A mail from a barrister via hotmail is sure to be ignored.

Yes and no. It's basically used for things that she has to register for or when a business asks for one, and she doesn't want to give out her day-to-day email address. But for quite a while, it was her only email address.

Understood, and today my wife wouldn't use her hotmail address for a job application. But as I said, there was a point in time where it was her only email address, so she did use that for job applications then. But perceptions obviously change over time.

There are similar perceptions regarding "Yahoo" mail.

Had my own domain for over a decade now. Three or four of them, in fact. Does that mean I'm in the clear?

The last hotmail account I had was created to give Lisa an anonymous warning about some shit that was going down on the board, so that must have been a year or two back now.

Considering Lisa has been gone a lot longer than that, I think your timing is off.

Heh, my two active email accounts are with Hotmail and Yahoo. I've had both for over ten years, and I'd have to change my email address on so many different sites I can't be arsed to change over to my barely-ever-used gmail account. I do have a giggle when a customer at work gives an AOL account, though. Honest to goodness, those that do are all older than 60.

By a year or two, I meant at least ten.
