But Spock was no longer a mere lieutenant commander on a starship. As a Federation ambassador, he had a personal shuttle at his command at all times, could log a secret flight plan using a dozen different diplomatic reasons, all of them acceptable, and venture far off course before the aberration was detected. This didn’t mean he would not be pursued, only that he would have more lead time before his absence was noted.

Ohh, there are so many books about Ambassador Spock going on one secret mission or another... but somehow I'm thinking it's Burning Dreams.

Maybe he has to write the book he wants to quote from first. :guffaw:

Sorry, it slipped my mind. Here's one:

"Enterprise!" hissed the Klingon. "Captain James T. Kirk." He said the name as if it were one of the vilest curses in the galaxy.
"Indeed, a scoundrel," added the Tellarite.
"Scourge of the galaxy," McCoy agreed.

I've only read about a quarter of the TOS novels, and I would have thought that I would remember such a conversation, so I'm 90% sure it's not in any of the ones I've read.

    Clue please??

I'm pretty sure I've read that quote before, but can't really pinpoint where.
