Went to Montana's last night and had a BBQ Beef Brisket with fries. It was good, hit the spot actually.

Char-grilled salmon salad with a herb dressing.

Had it in an Aberdeen Angus steak house along with our tourist guests, and the place was mobbed with football fans, as there was a Manchester United player as well as a former Real Madrid player also dining. Madness.

Mac and cheese out of a box with cut-up hot dogs in it. No one here felt particularly ambitious last night.

Oh oh... I actually have something to report... last night I cooked scallops with mushrooms, in a white wine and cream sauce served on garlic/olive oil bread.
Followed by liver (with a nice chianti;)) and bacon with roast sweet potato and squash with cabbage.

I'd never cooked scallops before so it was a bit of an adventure. I fried the mushys in butter, then added the scallops and poached them in the wine 'til it reduced and I added the cream. It was delicious.

I love cooking with wine ~ sometimes I even put it in the food

Ooh, I loooooove scallops - I've never cooked them before, though they don't look hard, but you have inspired me, K'ehlyer.

I made cream of potato soup, which I've made lots of times before, but this time I added some sharp cheddar at the end, and while the original recipe was fine, this was waaaaaaaaaay better. It was only slightly cheesy, but it just tasted so much richer with that cheese in there. I made exactly enough for two of us, which would normally be a good thing, but it was so good that I wish now I'd made extra.

    "Salmon chanted evening" - :guffaw:

I had a grilled cheese sandwich and hot tomato soup (creamy, of course).

    My favorite cold-weather meal!

Weird 24 hrs... yesterday it was whole lobster with garlic butter & champagne; today it was quarter-pounder with cheese and a strawberry milkshake.

    A right social chameleon, I am... :D

Go for it Kate, they were just pre-prepared queen scallops bought for a 'very good price' by my man who expects me to be Nigella Lawson when he hunts and gathers  They were really nice though and I managed to catch them at lubberly rather than rubbery :)

That soup sounds lovely, do you have easy recipe? I'll swop it for my cheese and onion soup. Which is basically white onion sauce with a little mustard, made with half milk and half cider (I love cooking with cider etc. etc.) and strong chedder! Served with hot crusty bread and more cider

    The best :techman:

Lemon and garlic pork, with pasta side dish.

Tonight was lemon-pepper catfish, but it came out way too bland.
