^^ Change for change's sake isn't necessarily an improvement.

Be sure to make a point of how they switched the red and gold colors.

Yeah, exactly. Here's how I view it. Is the suit blue and red? Does he have a cape? That's pretty much all I'd require to be a "Superman suit." The fact that he has the S logo is an added plus to be even closer.

Likewise, with Batman, I'd go with dark, cape, bat ears on cowl. That's pretty much it.

"Change for change's sake" is a brief summary of the Universe itself. There's no problem here.

It's all subjective anyway. Any movie is going to have its own look and style and set designers and costume designers will adapt their work to fit the vision of the filmmakers.

Also as an artist myself I do view set designers and costume designers as art and artists just don't want to copy other people's work they want to create their own.

That's true, but there are some around here who try to shout down dissent by labelling them "haters" or "stick-in-the-muds" or whatever.

The opinion that the classic look is fine just as it is is just as valid as anyone else's.

And you've made your point clear. Let me ask you this. At this point, do you think different pictures of the suit under different lighting has a chance of changing your opinion of it?

I doubt it. We've seen some pretty clear shots of what this is. It's possible the film itself could be good---I hope so---but that won't change my mind about the costume.

I can be quite forgiving (in some respects) about The Wrath Of Khan and acknowledge good aspects of it, but to this day I still hate those fucking uniforms. I can understand them wanting more colour than the TMP design, but something better could have been done than what TWoK gave us.

I agree with that too. You're free to like the classic look and not like the new look.

I don't label people because of their opinions. :bolian:

Right, and liking the new costume does not mean that one has to dislike the old. Liking one version does not mean that you have diss the other.

I like both. I also like Star Wars and Star Trek, Marvel and DC, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.

The thing its often how the opinion is presented. And sadly my friend, your reputation and history proceeds you. You can't really point the finger at name calling when it's something you've done in the past.

I miss the trunks. I hate the muted colors. I hate the texture.
But I have to say they absolutely knocked it out of the park with the design of that S.
