The Dominion almost won the war so what do you think would have happened to Picard if this happened? Do you think he would follow orders or join a resitence that would proably spring up?

I think he would proably follow orders to some degree. It would depend on what surrender meant. If Starfleet was still able to function as in explore space I think he would stay on just so he could make sure there was someone in this new Federation that still held up the values of Federation. If Federation citizens started getting killed I think he would join the restiance.

He's French so he'd probably surrender willingly then join a resistance later.

There's noway that he would've have surrendered. Probably lead a one ship resistance, gain a few allies along the way and beat them. Who knows perhaps his old friend Q may have helped.

I don't think Picard would have surrendered. Though he always seemed willing to avoid conflict, I think he wouldn't simply accept living under Dominion occupation. But yeah The Blob is right, Picard is French, the French surrender first and then fight.

Still find it funny that Picard is French when he so obviously has a North Yorkshire (a county in England, which I live in) accent. Never bought into all this Picard is 'French'. Why couldn't he a captain who came from North Yorkshire?

Not only does Picard have a classy English accent, he's addicted to Earl Grey Tea and Shakespeare. For an Frenchman, he's actually pretty English.

Oh wow. This is a thinker isn't it? Well, we know that he doesn't take crap from The Borg and will go all Captain Ahab. However, he's a diplomat before anything else. Ifthe Federation surrendered, I believe Jean-Luc would follow suit and stay in line. Most likely he would be selected as one of those essential few who would front the Federation's peacetalks and negotiations with the Dominion.

Other characters wouldn't follow this line. You know Worf would end up going to the Klingons and with Martok and others would attempt to cripple the Dominion. Kira would as well. Kathryn Janeway would be one of the ones who would front a resiatnce, Chakotay and Riker would follow in this path as well.

Janeway do something different depending on what personality the writers have given her in the episode, Chakotay would want to surrender and go settle on the nearest world and be all pacifist.

The first thing he'd do before anything else is facepalm since his government has effectively given up in the fight for freedom. After all, the Dominion isn't a democracy, it's a dictatorship where one race rules over all others.

Isn't it obvious? Some time in the 22nd century France invaded and conquered the United Kingdom. Guess why France wanted the Channel Tunnel. Apparently the former Englishmen were pretty happy with that development since it improved standard of living, food, fashion, football (By that time England hadn't won the World Cup in more than 200 years so England's single title from 1966 compared unfavourably to Germany's 23 titles and Luxembourg's 2.), taught people good manners and banned beer while promoting red wine.

Picard is indeed French but grew up in one of the English-language minority families of the United French Republic of France and Grande-Bretagne.

I think Picard and the Enterprise crew would stay on in Starfleet and try to work things from the inside. Sisko and the DS9 gang would be in the resistance. Janeway along with the entire crew of Voyager are stranded in the Delta quadrant, never to be seen or heard of again.

{ La Boo! } you've got it backwards. Chateau Picard is clearly in France, on the continent. Obviously Great Britain conquered France.

Lots of British migrant workers moved to France for better working conditions obviously. Also Picard might be adopted.

He's about as French as a Devonshire Cream Tea.

So much so that I wonder why they ever bothered with the 'French Connection' other than using it to explain his name.

    Could be the Napoleon factor...

I guess that with TNG they wanted to show that the future wasn't all about the USA and decided that the main character should be European, so they settled on a French Captain. Patrick Stewart just happened to be the best actor they could find for the role and therefore it went to an Englishman.

We could assume that national identity was redundant on 24th century Earth and that English was the first language for all. It could be that Picard was exposed to many different cultures in his youth and took an interest in England. That would explain his preference for Shakespeare and Earl Grey tea.

He would have performed a slingshot maneuver around a star and gone back in time to destroy the wormhole before the Dominion first contact.

If that wasn't feasible, he would have led a fleet of ragtag Starfleet and civilian vessels on a journey to find a new home...relentlessly chased by their enemies.

Considering the war would have ended right as Picard's strange mid life crisis was really kicking in he'd probably have led an assault on Dominion headquarters single handed, killed a load of Jem Hedar with his teeth and then head butted the female changeling to death.

Don't forget the mid-life crisis Data was apparently going through at the same time, he'd have been right behind shooting bad guys and yelling cliche trailer fodder!
