http://www.newsarama.com/comics/star-trek-mike-johnson-truth-about-tribbles.html This article is speculating that the movie will be a Trouble With Tribbles remake. I am highly skeptical yet there is a part of me that suspects tribbles will feature a role in this movie. What do you think?
Remember when the older Spock and young Kirk found Scotty on that frozen moon of Vulcan? In the background, you could hear Tribbles cooing in the lab.
No, the headline "Hints at movie sequel" applies to each issue of the comic. They are seeding each one with easter eggs and red herrings for the new movie. Already we've had: Dr Dehner is a past love interest of Dr McCoy's; Sulu is being groomed by Section 31; "Cupcake" is Mr Hendorff, who met his redshirt fate in "The Apple" in the other timeline, and many other "hints". It was in a little cage, on Scotty's desk. And it also features in the current two-parter comic.
So who would Cumberbatch play? Arne Darvin, Nilz Barris, Mr Lurry, Cyrano Jones, Koloth, Korax? Hmm, since Peter Weller is supposed to be a "CEO type" character, that could very well make him Barris or Lurry. Or even Cyrano Jones, since he has a ship and could be a CEO. Tribble trading CEO. For that matter, having a ship could make him Koloth. I think there's merit to this idea.
I very much liked this bit.... If killing George Kirk, killing Amanda and blowing up Vulcan was just the butterfly, I excpect next movie's tornado to be mind blowing!
Cumberbatch is quite an accomplished actor. I have no doubt he will be able to play any role convincingly, whether it be a tribble or a horta. He even has the thespian range to play a Mugato or a Cloud-Creature. I'm confident if Cumberbatch will play any of those four, the movie will be good. (...or even if he plays baby Balok, or one of the Lights of Zetar)
Cumberbatch as a slimmer Cyrano Jones, now that's interesting. Or it's a different take on the genetic superman story, he plays the galaxy's first human-tribble hybrid! Ok seriously, I like the idea of him playing Darvin. I've always said, he has the bone structure of an alien. A shame to waste him on a hew-mon role.
It's a bit left field but it could also explain why their initial instinct was to employ latino actors...?
Is Charlie Brill Latino? He seems very "New York Jewish" to me, which would make me think he is not Latino (but I suppose he could be). Arne Darvin did have a dark complexion, but I think Arne Darvin could be played by almost any ethnic group. That's not saying I think Cumberbatch is playing Darvin -- at least I don't think it's a tribbles movie. I suppose it is possible that Arne Darvin (as a Klingon spy posing as a human) could be in a different (non-tribble) story.
