So basically they blew the budget for Generations on three things: The stupid, pointless opening boat scene, Shat's salary, and McDowell's salary. Granted Soran was actually a good villain with believable motives, but still.
Actually, I rather liked the boat scene. I like the whole look and feel of it. Was it necessary? Hell no, but I like it anyway.
Too bad it featured Data, Worf, Picard, Crusher and Geordi out of character. Riker still an asshole though.
Er, the only way Worf, Crusher, Geordi and Riker were out of character was that the movies essentially ignored their characters. As for Picard, yeah, he was a bit different than the television Picard, but Data seemed to be the same.
Being butt-hurt Kirk died in less than epic circumstances is so last millennium. This is a rather nostalgic thread.
Lots to hate about Generations, but that's not the top of the list for me. One thing not often mentioned, they ruined the Excelsior model to make the fugly Enterprise-B. Nice job making it look like a barge.
That was the original idea----as per any superhero cross-over. I might have Soren trick the two somehow. Exactly.
But considering the costs just to have both TOS and TNG actors in one film would have probably reduced their interaction onto the stage of a theatre. Bob
