I'll start this thread off with the recently released cast shot, featuring two new characters: From left to right: Hannah Spearritt returning as Abby Maitland Andrew-Lee Potts returning as Connor Temple Ciarán McMenamin as Matt Ben Mansfield returning as Captain Becker Ruth Kearney as Jess Is anyone else going to watch?
Hell yeah! I love that show! I was seriously hoping that they would renew it. Primeval was one of my favorite shows. I'm also looking forward to the new season of Being Human. Looks like it will be fantastic!
I dunno. The third season was dreadful compared to the first two. The core character arc of the first two seasons was lost with a certain cast member's departure (don't want to spoil too much) and they didn't find anything worthwhile to take its place. The mostly credible, scientifically grounded creatures of the first two seasons were replaced by increasingly frivolous, nonsensical things like the fungus men. And in the third-season finale, the heroes didn't actually do anything to influence the outcome of events. They were just spectators. If they'd simply stayed home, the crisis would've resolved itself anyway. And now the only two original cast members shown in that photo are my least favorite ones. My question is, will Lester be back? I didn't like him at first, but he's now become my favorite character of the ones remaining.
Actually, other than Sarah Page, all main characters who were still alive at the end of series 3 will be returning in some capacity. And yes, Christopher, that includes Lester. Link
That "other than Sarah Page" is the problem. Laila Rouass is gorgeous, and it's a shame to see her character dropped when she barely had any development. (Which is another of the third season's many failings. She was brought in as a mythology expert to pursue new ways of tracking down anomalies, and then that was practically never mentioned again except in the dragon episode.)
Can I enter an anomaly that will take me to a world where the original cast is still doing the show? Anyone know where that one will open? Please...
Lailla Rouass was responsible for Sarah Page not returning. she has a young daughter and didn't want to decamp to northern ireland for the filming and be away from her daughter. so, blame her for caring more about her daughter than her career!
I'll watch... But with low expectations. This show has been going downhill since the end of the first 'series'. While series 2 was decent, I think the seeds of the shows decline can be seen in the series one finale. It all started with the changed history. And the of course series 3 threw out all semblance of logic. So I have to agree with others - Give me a anomaly that takes me to a place where the season 1 cast goes on. And where the plot takes a very different turn. The show seemed to be on the cusp of revealing some grand strategy behind the anomalies (perhaps created by someone/something), but instead they made them all random and more common than rain on a cloudy day. Or perhaps I only am missing the most beautiful woman on TV... Lucy Brown.
I was about to post something similar to that. I'll be watching, I've always thought of the show as just a bit of fun, so as long as it keeps a sense of fun I'll be happy enough with it.
Same here. It started out great but ever since that reset button (which turned one of the greatest characters into the most annoying one) the whole thing has turned into the usual cookie cutter stuff. I'll probably watch it but since the newer episodes are full with stuff even Doctor Who couldn't pull off with a straight face I'm not exactly thrilled.
I hope that's true, because in the case of Sliders, season 3 was its worst by far and it rebounded in season 4.
The character's name is Jenny, Lucy is the actress' name. And she is returning, as indicated in the part of the article I quoted in my previous post.
