Looks great now. I'd widen the pylons though. The nacelle attachments looks a bit fragile.

I looked at the spruce goose and I can see the resemblance, with the new secondary Hull. SO, The ship's class name will be called the Hughes Class.

Thank you, so I might as well tell you the back story I envisioned for her.

In 2258 Admiral Markus had Khan develop new weapons and starships. One such ship is the Hughes Class, known by another name then she was ment to to the complimentary class to the Dreadnought Class USS Vengeance much like the Miranda class was to the Constitution in the Prime Timeline

After the Khan incident during 2259, the new CMO of Starfleet discovered the other projects, the Hughes Class being one of them. With Starfleet becoming a more exploratory force they went on refitting the Hughes Class to endure longer trips into deep space. That's when they added the secondary Hull.

The Hughes Class came into service in 2262, Alternate Reality.

    The Hughes Class Specs:
    Length: 500m
    Crew Compliment: 350
    Maximum Warp: 9.3
    Average Warp Speed: 6
    Shuttle Compliment: 6
Weapons: 10 Phaser arrays, 4 bow facing photon torpedo launchers
Warp Engine: The one that the USS Vengeance uses.
Impulse Drive: 4 Aft Impulse engines

    Without further ado, more PICTURES!!!

I've never been a fan of the split neck design. Despite that, I love this ship. A lot.

    USS Ephemera
    USS Wayfinder
    USS Hadji
    USS Crusader

Here is a list of explorers to choose from.

I like the nacelles because they don't look like dogs's penises.

    I'm assuming you're referring to the JJ's Enteprise's ample blue warp nacells?:vulcan:

On another note when did that thread die?

^ Ah, well I'll let the thread rest in peace then, I still have a pic of the Somberoprise I drew way back in 2009 though. Man what silly ship.

Really my only issue with it. Having the secondary hull 'cradled' in the neck is visually interesting and offers some great modularity for various mission profiles, but unless that secondary hull can function as a separate ship unto itself, I just don't see it being that functional. Add a little more heft to both 'necks', make it look like they're built to take some punishment and not kill everyone traveling in them and it would probably be fine.

An otherwise pretty fabulous design. And I say that as someone who doesn't much care for the reboot's style/design language for Starfleet.

Well then I will definitely take that as a compliment, thank you!
It's a good thing I read that, you won't see the changes in the first few images, because I rendered those images out before I read you're comment. I fixed the neck, because I was thinking the same thing.

SO we got a whopping 9 images here, I think that the modeling is done. If you think I should touch up any part of this ship I'm going to move on to texture and surface detailing; aka modeling lights, and windows.

    Ask, and you shall receive!

Also she has a name now, I was thinking about explorers as Shawnster said, and I thought well why not name it for a "recently" deceased explorer?

    Ladies and Gentlemen, and Tribbles...

    I present to you

You might have to ask a mod, especially if the original post is too old to edit.

absolutely fantastic, a magnificent ship in all its glory, not to sound cheeky but now we have ship lets possibly have some nice interior design, something unique for the bridge, engine room and a few new rooms i guess, also maybe a uniform would be good too...

Dude, stop reading my mind!

Well I am planning to do interiors, but that requires some research and some concept work, not to mention making a floor plan. Still gotta finish the exterior before I jump into the interior.

More wips, Got the Deflector dish 90% done, and I UV'ed the Secondary Hull.

I got some more work done, all that's left for basic texturing is the nacelles, the [Shatner]"shuttle bay doors"[/Shatner], the Pylons and that thing that holds 'em together.

Once that's done I'll be putting The ship into either Mudbox or Z-brush and Sculpt the normal maps.

And I'll be designing a Bridge, a Shuttle Bay, a Shuttle, Crew chambers, and a Mess Hall.

Then take the Renders of the Interiors and use them as textures or composite into a Image to go for a film quality.

SO, here's the full to-do list:

    • Finish the Diffuse + Incandescence
    • Sculpt details
    • Tweak the Specularity/Reflections
    • Design the Bridge
    • Model the Bridge
    • Texture the Bridge
    • Design the Shuttle + Bay
    • Model the Shuttle
    • Texture the Shuttle
    • Model the Bay
    • Texture the Bay
    • Design Crew Chambers
    • Design Mess Hall
    • Model the Environments
    • Texture the Environments

    Here's some WIP's
