The BBC News website is reporting on this story. They're also reporting that Texas has surpassed the 25,000 signatures needed for the White House to issue a response. I'm normally pretty dismissive of these kinds of "paranoias," but if the Beeb is reporting on it, I tend to take it a little more seriously.
Wait, why am I so worried about this? It's going to completely fuck up college football. Nothing will come of it. Not only would Texas secede from the Union, but they'd secede from the Big 12. Oh, wait, that's become common lately too.
Sure, it may have to be "considered" but then obviously it'll be responded with a, "Are you fucking nuts?!" before it gets tossed in the waste basket. And, succession?! Really?! Things aren't that damn bad simply because we elected a Democrat into office. These states are nuts to think they can even begin to function on their own without the Federal Government.
It has nothing to do with a Democrat in the White House, and you know it. It has everything to do with him being a super-secret-Kenyan-socialist-Nazi-communist-Muslim. Oh, wait, no. It's a combination of all of those things, really, fueled mostly by the Right-Wing Media (Fox) and the more extreme members of the current Republican party. They're not trying to make this country better by having both sides work together to find and equitable solution they just want to create dissent. And, yeah, I suspect a good touch of "racism" is in play as well.
But if it wasn't for them, who would be in the Tea Party? Who dropped a whole truckload of fizzies into the varsity swim meet? Who delivered the medical school cadavers to the alumni dinner? Every Halloween, the trees are filled with underwear. Every spring, the toilets explode.
