This looks like it'll be a lot of fun. RDJ was born for this sort of movie, I think. He's perfect as Tony Stark (wouldv'e made a good Stephen Strange as well, I think). Too bad they couldn't have kept Ed Norton as Banner, though.

Agree with Dennis - Scarlett Johannson w/red hair=hotness.

I thought the same thing. Also there's that SFX from some of the "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" that plays at the beginning

Yep. Not saying it's not a fun trailer with some good moments - just that the "awesome!" reactions flying all around the Internet are pretty Pavlovian. You see those cars go flying in the air? OHMIGOD!

^ What I liked more than that was the dialogue and interaction between the cast. And just seeing all those great characters - played by great actors - onscreen at the same time. I suspect that a lot of the 'awesome' response came on similar basis, rather than the 'sploshuns.

Bingo. I barely even noted the 'sploshuns myself, but seeing the Avengers assembled? Awesome.

It's a pretty generic action movie trailer because........

..in the end it's a pretty generic action movie. Although one with more money for pretty SFX and some big names attached to it. Still friggin psyched for this one though! :D:D:D:D

Interactions? You mean the couple of one-line setups that other actors standing around in costumes hand to Downey at various moments between the explosions so that he can say something funny?

Nice costumes. Ring the bell, Doctor Pavlov.

It was certainly far better than the first trailer for Green Lantern was.

Yes. A 'couple' would be two and this is more than one. Ergo is is plural.

Sorry for having the temerity to have a different opinion from you on something. It must be very frustrating for you, all these people daring to differ.

My only small disappointment was I was hoping Whedon would go with something a bit more mythic with this movie. But instead it's looking like it'll just be the same "hip, modern action" style we saw with all the other Marvel movies.

While you can't argue against their success, there's a part of me that will always prefer the more mythic style of the Superman and Batman movies. Hell, even Thor didn't feel particularly mythic.

Captain America: The First Avenger felt generally mythic; the idea of the Cosmic Cube is pretty mythic. Maybe The Avengers will be mythic; it's too soon to tell based on one trailer.

If I have to have a Superman movie without speedos [sic] then you're getting an Avengers movie that isn't mythic.

Cool only for the glimpses of the team together...its not a great teaser trailer by any means.

Awesome trailer...and doesn't the studio also have a say in what we see in trailers? Not just the director? We know how uber-controlly Marvel Studios can be. Anyway, I'm pumped for this and loved the conversation Tony had with Banner at the end.

I agree, and I stand corrected about not getting a glimpse of the Hulk. I was please to catch a glimpse of some of the stuff they did here in Cleveland.

Robert Downey Jr is one of those actors that can be witty and can even make bad dialogue written for him seem witty. Despite that, the dialogue in the trailer feels scripted, really scripted, and he can't do anything about that. "Playboys' are the kinds of people who never use that term to describe themselves.

What can you say about a teaser trailer, save for it showing the team getting together?
And check this: For the past two years, the studio has been spending millions in order to put out formula action films with the idea that each one would be teaser for a film that will no doubt turn to be just another formula action picture that will have the same formula as the films that lead up to it. Why go through all the trouble if you aren't even going to try?

It wasn't a teaser trailer. The teaser trailer was shown after the credits of "Captain America: The First Avenger". This was the first theatrical trailer.
