A formal apology for "These are the Voyages" (he actually did apologize for "Threshold" on the Voyager DVDs!)
TATV needs far more apologizing for than Threshold. At least we've had loads of fun with Threshold whereas TATV is all pain.
I've not seen TATV, but reading the synopsis makes it almost sound like they were trying to throw away the legitimacy of the entire series by an "it was all a dream" type ending.
I would like a move-length edit of Demons/Terra Prime to be a finale of the series, with a new voice over at the end by Bakula to tie it all up nicely. Hey we can dream, right?
That would be fabulous. It will never happen.. hey at least we got Demons/Terra Prime which were excellent episodes and had some good ingredients for being the finale.
Here is my greatest request: Include "These are the voyages..." as a bonus feature, ideally on the blu-ray release of TNG's sixth season. In other words, remove "These are the voayges" from canon. Seriously, no one likes it. Relocate it to a bonus feature, it has no business being listed alongside the other episodes. Let "Terra Prime" forevermore be the true ENT finale.
I'll jump on this bandwagon. Terrific idea. With Ent on Netflix and owning the season 3 DVD's, I had no intention of buying the Blu-ray set, but THIS would make me change my mind.
Hopefully they'll come up with some great extras. Yeah, I'd like to see extended editions of episodes or some re-edited feature-length. Alternative to the individual shows as they count in the canon, I'd stress. Since seamless branching involves opting in to something different to a default setting, howabout an alternative title sequence without "Faith of the Heart". Perhaps Archer's theme and "Space... the final frontier" monologue as once seen on startrek.com? Anything I'd suggest would undoubtably be prohibitively expensive though. Like filming a better final-finale involving a cast reunion and an elderly Archer attending the launch of NCC-1701, before he pops his clogs the next day.
You realize that you don't really speak for the entire fanbase, don't you? I, for one, thoroughly enjoy TATV as an episode. I'll agree it's not a good ending to ENT, but I really enjoy the crossover aspect of the episode and the interactions between the two casts. I agree that it would better fit with a TNG release, but that's highly unlikely and I in no way agree that it should be removed from the canon.
"Hey Boys and Girls! I'd just like to thank you all for being Star Trek fans and for purchasing this very special release edition of remastered high definition Enterprise. It truly is a very special series and I'm proud to have been a part of it. And with that in mind I'd like to offer my sincere apologies for what should have been a truly wonderful series finale for Enterprise. But I've read your letters and emails and I know that for you, the fans, something was missing and since the fans are what Star Trek is all about I want you to know I've heard what you have had to say. And I'm sorry. I apologize. We should never have stuffed Frakes and Sirtis into those uniforms without adding some hidden spandex. I hope you will find the airbrushed CGI added to this very special release edition of remastered high definition Enterprise makes your viewing of this wonderful series finale the true valentine I always intended it to be."
teacake is being far too nice Did I read somewhere Frakes thought, in retrospect, TATV was a disservice to ENT fans? Anyone know Sirtis' views?
