I'd say there was at least a bit of trouble along the way. Palpatine just lucked out as far as being able to grab onto a handrail after he and Yoda were both propelled outward. Yoda also had oncoming stormtroopers to consider by that point and had lost his lightsaber.

Mark looks more and more like Alec Guinness with each passing photo and video, doesn't he? I love it. :)

Let's hope he follows through on that only up to a point. Alec being dead and all.

If there's a gif of Sir Alec doing an eyeroll or double take, now's the time.

The questions on my mind today...

    1. I wonder if we'll get a Ewan McGregor force ghost/voice...

    2. Will Luke be able to do the bouncy PT lightsaber duel moves (ala Dooku/Yoda) or will they play it down a bit to be more like the OT?

I hope Ewan returns as the Force ghost of Obi-Wan. Yeah, yeah, we know: Luke only saw the old version of Obi-Wan after his death in the OT, but that's what morphing and CGI are for. They can easily pull it off. Start out as Alec Guinness, then morph into Ewan as Obi-Wan explains it was what he looked like during his prime as an active Jedi Knight.

    Hey, he's a ghost. It's the Force. Anything's possible.

With today's technology they should just give us a CGI Guinness.

Or maybe not. At least it worked for Marlon Brando.

Being a huge fan of the OT, I suspect JJ will go more for that slower fighting style again, where the lightsabers seemed to have a greater sense of power behind them, and the battles looked much more like old-school classic swordfighting.

And I'd love to see a return to that style as well.

We might see a synthesis of the two approaches.

I could see Luke following the OT style, but the new Jedi using the PT style.

I just don't want to see Luke twirling his lightsaber over his head like a baton. Lol

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Well, I just hope Luke fights a bit more impressively than he did in the OT. He doesn't need to do acrobatics, but the OT lightsaber duels really do seem too slow at times (although they usually made up for it with atmosphere) So, maybe having much less acrobatics than the prequels, but faster sword movement than the OT would be a good way for Luke to go about fighting as an older Jedi Master, while any younger lightsaber fighters do a more energetic style like the prequels.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Yeah the battles were pretty slow in ANH and ESB, but things sped up quite a bit for ROTJ. Luke was swinging that lightsaber around pretty quickly during the Sarlaac sequence, and the final battle with Vader got pretty fast and intense towards the end as well. It still may not be as fast and frenetic as the prequels, but they definitely did speed things up.

I will say though, for being a supposed trained Jedi, Luke sure didn't seem to have much of a technique. He swings his lightsaber around so wildly on the skiff that it almost looks like Han and Chewie are about to get sliced at a couple points as well. Lol :D

Well Luke did leave before his training was finished. And TESB the movie didn't show Luke training with the lightsaber unlike in the novel. In the novel Yoda would throw a metal bar into the air while Luke was running and Luke, if he were a full Jewdi was supposed havve been able to cut the bar into seven pieces.
