Just read this on http://www.news.com.au/entertainmen...s-new-doctor-who/story-e6frfmyi-1226660996052 Never heard of this Rory Kinnear guy(at first I thought it was Rory McGrath from Grumpy Old Men - that would be AWESOME!!!). At least this guy is OLDER and not a foetus like the last Doctor Who! Goodbye Odo Junior and let's usher in an older Doctor Who!!! Who knows - I may even start watching again!
It's a good sign though that they want to trend older - with the choice of Odo Junior last time, I was worried we might get a twelve year old for the next one!
I think Smith was perfectly suited for the part. He was the second coming of Troughton. This new guy could be the second wind of Colin Baker, we just dont know.
Yeah, just 'cos a newspaper prints a story doesn't actually make it true. In fact, out of all the actors working in the world today he's one of the few we can say now hasn't got the job.
Odo? Oh, the rubber man from that Star Trek? That's not a very nice thing to say. He think he's more of a cross between Tommy Cooper and Herman Munster myself. Ha! Funny that you think Rory Kinnear is significantly older than Matt Smith! He's only 35. Seems like stripling to me. 40-55 is probably my preferred age range. Although that said, Matt Smith, turned out to be perfect in the part, so what do I know? I never thought of him as a foetus either (you have some very strange notions, I have to say) - in fact, I rarely thought of him as being 30, but could easily believe that he was 1100. So that worked. You're right about one thing though. The new Doctor has probably been chosen - they just haven't announced him/her yet. Might be Kinnear, we'll find out soonish, I expect. I think my choice at the moment would be for someone like Tom Hollander. Or Miranda Hart.
Pretty much. http://www.bleedingcool.com/2013/06/09/rory-kinnear-is-sick-of-these-doctor-who-rumours/ From Liz Buckley, a friend of the Kinnear family: "Everything in the papers about Rory Kinnear being asked to be the new Doctor is 100% bollocks, just so you know. He's a bit sick of it." "He's not been approached & wants the rumour quashed; it's a casting PR smokescreen whilst the show auditions."
"you have some very strange notions, I have to say" Why thank you! A couple of years ago I might have jumped at Miranda Hart. Her show has gone down the shitter however and she has become over-exposed and annoying. Her schtick has now become old. She might make an interesting companion however, like Catherine Tate(best modern companion as she gave the Doctor shit and wasn't all goo-goo eyed at him!). And the foetus thing is "exaggeration to make a point". As for 35 being ideal, no, I never said that. Personally I'd prefer a MUCH older Doctor like Pertwee but since we are not going to have that for a long time(if ever!), 35 is a much welcome age after 23 and trending downwards.
As a matter of fact, Smith was 26 when cast, not 23. And what difference does the age of the actor playing the Doctor make, anyway. Mid-forties or mid-twenties - both are a far cry from the "true" age of the Doctor.
If we were going by true age of the Doctor, I would love to see someone like Sean Connery pull it off. Of course that's not going to happen, but I would actually watch that.
I'm sure that you're a very handsome man and/or a very pretty woman, but there's no reason to mock those of us who are not similarly blessed with the gift of beauty.
