I wonder what "Rumors" would have been like if Fleetwood Mac had kept quiet about their relationship problems?
^ Yeah - for better or for worse writing about relationship problems is one of the greatest wells to draw from. Well now that's just unnecessary. For myself I think she's lovely and has some decent songwriting talent; not a great singer but studio work makes her fun to listen to. And besides, some people like Bob Dylan's singing, so it takes all kinds. She seems to be a pretty nice person overall and I liked her SNL Star Trek skit. Buut... I am starting to get a bit burned out with her pattern of songs as has been pointed out throughout the thread. Just... a little more variety maybe?
I was thinking the same thing as I was reading thru this thread. Hell, half the time Stevie and Lindsay were singing about each other's faults TOGETHER on stage!
TNG Uniform, TOS eyeshadow. http://images4.fanpop.com/image/pho...t-Taylor-Swift-star-trek-15677745-450-619.jpg Or do you want to deliver the real snapshot you were talking about?
Not at all. What is unnecessary is saying "There is a special place in hell for woman who don't back woman" after being joked by the fact she is a serial dater that seems to just date guys to write songs about.
Well, there's only so many times a beautiful, talented, insanely rich woman can write about a broken heart before people start to get suspicious.
Agreed. Hell, I can already see the chorus of my own song: "I've broken away from the guy who gave a shit, and while he's a nice guy, in general, and there's not much bad to say about him, fuck that guy, and he's also a little fat."
OMG! Now she is being compared to Dylan. Please stop. You may be unaware but Dylan's "singing" was iconic and nearly as revolutionary as his songwriting. It is not a simple matter of, "he had a mediocre voice, as does Taylor, so it's okay to still like her singing". Pop music had never seen a guy with Dylan's voice stand out front and mesmerize a crowd. His voice ushered in the whole singer songwriter era and was the first pop star to show that you didn't need to have a voice like Sinatra's or Patti Paige's to move a person with your songs. indeed.
No, I'm saying that you don't need a great voice to be very successful. Would you have been happier if I'd said Tom Waits, whose singing I actually really like? Or Axl Rose maybe? Take the songwriting out of it; nothing she's ever written can compare with Dylan's writing. I don't really care about his being revolutionary or changing the types of singing that would be accepted. Ok, no... I appreciate it from a historical perspective. But the best Bob Dylan songs are the ones sung by Joan Baez, or Peter Paul and Mary, or... anybody else, really. Taylor Swift too, probably. So yes, it really is a matter of "he had a mediocre voice, as does Taylor, so it's okay to still like her singing."
I've a feeling it's over three digits. Watching the Late Late Show as I type this. The Subject: Taylor Swift's serial dating.
I'm waiting for Taylor Swift and Katie Perry to have a torrid love affair. The decade of break-up songs would define a generation.
