The more I think about it, the more I like the Doctor as the nanny. I can picture him slipping in little digs against Tom at every chance. And even a "I'm a doctor, not a diaper changer," line here and there.

Actually, who better to change diapers than someone with no sense of smell?

I think they started with a 50/50 scedule for loloking after the kid.

But after a while Tom started to remember the lyrics from an old Rolling Stones song, "Sittin' On A Fence":

Maybe the choice you did wasn't really right, then you go out and you won't come back at night.

So B'elanna hade to take over the duties. But she was too fond over her job to quit Starfleet so in the end B'Elanna's mother Prabsa or Miral or whatever her name is got the responibility to take care of the kid.

Without bothering to read the thread and I'm sure someone already said this - they'd have left Miral on the holodeck. Raised in Hair Haven. Didn't know she was really on a spaceship until she was five.

Herr Haven is the strict German Governor in charge of the education of the children on Voyager.

Danny? Do you have children? When they were young, 1 or two years old, how many hours would you leave her in front of Elmo and Blues Clues with a bottle of formula balanced against a pillow so that it would tilt into her mouth without the need of adult supervision?

I am sure KingDaniel's offspring won't be babysat by such nonsense. They will be listening to the Audio book of Strangers from the Sky and it will be so exciting they'll half chew the teat off the drink.

LOL, that reason alone should account for all females breastfeeding. Putting that aside for a moment though, there is nothing that ties Mother and Baby together more. You need to be physically together (which I don't see as a problem considering they are all on Voyager). The mother could easily arrange short breaks to feed her baby. Now here is the secret, once you get past the "need to be available" problem - No other way of feeding your baby is easier, it doesn't involve sterilization, it doesn't involve mixing anything, it's always at the right temperature. The only thing that would come close is the replicater and I don't think it has a chance against Guy's argument.

The working theory is that replicators double as toilets.

It's how they collect/recycle biomatter to make food.

So don't be so quick to disassociate replicators with orgasms.

    Pretend that you're a man.

    (Stop screaming.)

You set the rplicator to wall in the replcator pad alcove with a wad of soft luke warm moist Russsian fudge.

To quote a very early episode of Friends...

"I honestly don't know if I'm hungry or horny!?"

"Then stay out of my ffridge!"

I prefer what Avon from Blake's Seven said on the subjects, that a pilot is a dime a dozen but a good thief is hard to find.

You gotta remember that all the Starfleet officers, in theory, even the knuckle dragger's in security are super geniuses who can all do Tom or B'Elanna's job with equal textbook potency.

Point is that B'Elanna and Tom are supposedly artists in their fields, even though could easily do each other's jobs competently enough that the ship would not blow up.

Neelix is a shitty thief. but then among the Maquis is probably the thief artist gandering in obscurity.
