Remember when Star Trek was pitched to Lucille Ball she thought it was about USO tours with “stars trekking to the south seas”. The plot has to be based on the show's history. Think about, everyone has picked up on how "John Harrison" is a combination of two of the Beatles' names. Also John Lennon wrote the Beatles song "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds"! That can not be a coincidence! Her name and the star like imagery! There has to be some meaning to all of this! Some connection! Its all a big riddle, mystery we need to solve. There is no point in actually waiting to see the actual movie. That JJ is being devious! He has thrown down a challenge and we have to figure this out!
But...there is no meaning. Abrams has specifically stated that John Harrison is just an average human who happens to be the villain. There's nothing more to look into than that.
You are forgetting the Latin connection! Ricardo Montalban and Desi Arnaz. Arnaz picked the name of Ricky Ricardo as a tribute to Montalban! Its real, look it up.
Keesner is a little person...well alien. Like Tatoo, Montalban's sidekick on Fantasy Island. So is Keesner's really a spy for Khan! Or is Scotty really Khan in disguise!!!!!!!
Wasn't Loyd Bridges one of Roddenberry's casting choices for Kirk? He was in a show called Sea Hunt. Was that a show about a submarine or was that another show..... ummm that does not matter the Enterprise goes under water too! I am not sure what all this means. But maybe some of our experts can decipher all these clues?
That's the big riddle isn't it? Nimoy sang "The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins". The guy playing Bilbo also plays Dr Watson with Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes.... Spock quoted an ancestor of his having said "If you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth"
I think it all converges on Bilbo. And you know what this means? We WILL see the Vulcan lute in this movie.
Maybe the post credit scene will have old Spock teaching nu-Spock how to play "THe Ballad of Bilbo Baggins" on a Vulcan lute. Joined by the ghost of dead Captain Kirk showing nu-Kirk to break the fourth wall and tell the fans to "Get a Life! Its just a movie!"
Michael Giancchino has only written two pieces for the soundtrack so far. There is EVERY reason to believe we can get a haunting Ballad of Bilbo Baggins refrain at the end of some Trek crescendo moment. For poignancy. PETITION TIME!!!!!!
I'm down with that. Sybok IS canon and JJ better not forget it. If everyone in our universe can exist in the Mirror Universe there is no reason a pesky diverging timeline should squash Sybok out of existence.
