Hey everyone, I'm looking at getting into the reading the Klingon books, I.K.S. Gorkon Novels, Klingon Empire: A Burning House and others, but when I look on Simon & Schuster and other sites Klingons don't have their own section. How would I go about looking up the various Klingon books that are out there if they don't have a section?

    Thanks.

ETA: Ok, I went to Simon & Schuster and did a search for Klingon in the Star Trek book section and came across them, but I was just hoping to find a list on the side like the one's for TNG, Voy and others. Thanks everyone.

Not sure if there is one. You're pretty much looking for Keith DeCandido's books, though. The books are as follows:

    1 - TNG Diplomatic Immunity
    2 - IKS 1 - A Good Day to Die
    3 - IKS 2 - Honor Bound
    4 - IKS 3 - Enemy Territory
    5 - Klingon Empire 1 - A Burning House

    Related short stories include:

A Song Well Sung by the minor deity Robert Greenberger in Tales of the Dominion War
A story told by Klag in the Captain's Table anthology

There's also a mirror universe story in Shares and Shadows.

And I *think* they make an appearance somewhere in the SCE series, but not sure which story or stories.

Yeah, it didn't occur to me at the time, but there are other writers who have taken Klag and his crew on. He's in the two Left Hand of Destiny books, the Destiny trilogy by David Mack, Q and A by DeCandido, among others.

Klag wasn't in LHofD. I simply meant that LHofD is a key Klingon story.

One more in here: The Brave and the Bold, Part Four, which comes between Diplomatic Implausibility and A Good Day to Die.

First off, thanks for the replies, I do appreciate it very much.

Secondly, should I read these books in this order, or does it matter? I know the IKS books are in a specific order, so those I do have to read, but I'm sure about the others. Thanks for the guidance.

They are best read in order, yes. I would begin with "The Left Hand of Destiny", then the Gorkon/Klingon Empire books in order. "The Brave and the Bold, book two" story comes prior to the Gorkon series, but should you have difficulty tracking that one down or wish to stick to the full-length novels, Gorkon book one summarizes its plot anyway, so don't worry.

If you haven't started yet, I would encourage you to start with Diplomatic Implausibility. It creates the entire IKS Gorkon backstory, and introduces the major players. Plus, it's a pretty darn good story. It was based on that book that Paramount let the IKS Gorkon/Klingon series be launched.

you should definitely read them in order as there are character deaths in various books which would be spoilt in later volumes.

Thanks for that one...I'll add it to my list.

I do like reading books in order when I can figure it out. Sometimes it's not always easy to figure out, but when I can, I do.

Just another opinion... I got tired of the Klingons in onscreen Trek ages ago. But I enjoyed the heck out of the Klingon books. The books have room to explore the Klingons as individuals rather than as stereotypes, and that makes all the difference.

No problem. I spending way to much time playing around and editing on Memory Beta. IMO it's one of the web's best resources for Trek Lit, comics, and games.

Reading order for all of them is/should be:

    Left Hand Of Destiny
    Diplomatic Implausibility
    Brave & Bold 4th Artifact
    IKS Gorkon 1-3
    Klingon Empire: Burning House

Wasn't The Left Hand of Destiny published after some of the other books? Even though it is set before Diplomatic Implausibility, I would not call it an essential part of the Klag/Gorkon saga. The duology is a good read, but it is more Martok-centric.

All true. I mentioned it as a key Klingon tale, as AdmiralSteven wanted information on Klingon stories (he started off with interest in Kahless).

Geez, didn't even have to reply, I got everyone doing my promotional work for me!

    Well done, minions!!! ;)

Seriously, though, this has been covered, but if you want to follow the primary story of Captain Klag and his adventures as CO of the I.K.S. Gorkon, here are the main stories in those adventures (written by me unless indicated otherwise):

    TNG: Diplomatic Implausibility (2001)
ST: The Brave and the Bold Book 2 (2002)
GKN: A Good Day to Die (2003)
    GKN: Honor Bound (2003)
    GKN: Enemy Territory (2005)
    KE: A Burning House (2008)
    ST: A Singular Destiny (2009)

Be warned that ASD jumps ahead four years with some status quo changes.

There are also three short stories that focus on Klag:

"A Song Well Sung" by Robert Greenberger in ST: Tales of the Dominion War (2004)
"loDnI'pu' vavpu' je" in ST: Tales from the Captain's Table (2005)
"Family Matters" in MU: Shards and Shadows [Mirror Universe counterpart] (2009)

Klag and the Gorkon also have brief cameos in the following tales:

    DS9: Avatar Book 2 by S.D. Perry (2001)
"The Other Side" by Robert Greenberger in ST: Gateways: What Lay Beyond (2001)
DS9: Warpath by David Mack [Mirror Universe counterpart] (2006)
    TNG: Q & A (2007)
ST: Destiny: Lost Souls by David Mack (2008)

Finally, there are other post-Dominion War Klingon Empire stories of note, which don't involve Klag, but tie in to the above in some way or other:

DS9: The Left Hand of Destiny Books 1-2 by J.G. Hertzler & Jeffrey Lang (2003)
VOY: Spirit Walk: Old Wounds by Christie Golden (2004)
VOY: Spirit Walk: Enemy of My Enemy by Christie Golden (2004)
VOY: Full Circle by Kirsten Beyer (2009)
TNG: A Time to Kill by David Mack (2004)
TNG: A Time to Heal by David Mack (2004)
TNG: A Time for War, a Time for Peace (2004)
ST: Articles of the Federation (2005)

More than you needed, but there you go. :)
