So much for Embargos! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbi...new-film--So-Time-Lord.html?ito=feeds-newsxml Doctor Who is to undergo another regeneration – as Matt Smith has announced he’s quitting the role. The actor is hanging up his sonic screwdriver after four years and will appear in just two more episodes: the keenly awaited 50th anniversary special in November, and the Christmas Day edition. Smith, 30, said it had been ‘an honour’ to play the Doctor but added: ‘When you gotta go, you’ve gotta go.’
"Sexterminate! Doctor Who may come back as a woman," says the The Sunday Times. If we were to have a woman Doctor, Romola Garai maybe?
First editions are always available in central London by 10pm Saturday. Press office must have known thst, but they'll turn a blind eye.
It's sad when an actor leaves, but what will be even sadder is when the fans in a year from now will say stuff like Matt Smith Sucked as the Doctor. It seems like that's Dr. Who fandom in a nutshell, when a doctor or companion leaves, the negativity comes out. Who knows who will play the new Doctor (Will they have a first black or female doctor?) but Matt Smith was great in the role and he will be missed just like Tennant and Eccleston and the others.
Sad to see Matt Smith go. He really had a classic Doctor style about him. As to a female Doctor: Why not? Could be fun. Me too. Seems like just a few days ago it was all over twitter that he was confirmed for 8, and now he's gone after teh '013 Xmas special. WTH?
I would love to see a female doctor I'm not really too bothered, I'm not so keen on these new episodes anyway, just more of a shock than anything.
It says he will appear in the 50th and the christmas special... so what about the season in between that?
I thought it was telling that the BBC's announcement of series 8 after "The Name of the Doctor" said nothing about who was involved except for Steven Moffat. To be honest, at this point, I'm not convinced that Jenna will be involved past the Christmas special.
Sad news. He's the only one of the New Who Doctors to faithfuly resemble the one of the classic series. A loss to be sure, though excited to see who'll replace him.
If he isn't that might mean she was the worst companion ever, by default. I'm hoping she stays on so we can learn more about Clara, instead of why there were so many incarnations of her. That and I like what Jenna is bringing to the show and really want to see more of it.
I think Clara is the best companion in a long time, couldn't stand amy and rory. They took over way too much, Clara is good!
Adore Clara. Less clingy than Rose and Martha, less grotesque than Donna and played by a wonderful actress. Getting rid of her along with Matt would be utterly retarded.
