The other writer you're after is Margaret Wander Bonano. But TrekBBS is not and has never been part of PsiPhi.org - we've always been part of TrekNation, owned since 1999 by Christian Hohne Sparborth, as it says at the bottom of every page:

    Behave! There are ladies present!

Gillian, I believe this is the site you were looking for (you mentioned that you were searching for Trek Original Series' books) : http://www.psiphi.org

But even if this isn't the board you were expecting, give us a chance and hang out with us :) We're a nice bunch - well, most of us are - and this board can be a fun place to hang out with other Trekkies.
Still, the name Gillian does sound very familiar. I think we did indeed once have a member of that name. Around 2001/2 if I am not mistaken.

I tried the psiphi.org site and it didnt seem to be still operating. I googled David Henderson and ended up here.

On other social networking sites, I have Deanna Troi as my avatar, although I always keep my real name.

It couldn't have been anything but Jim! I said give me a hard one, and boy did you give me a hard one.

The double entendre was intentional, although I'm not sure why.

Ah I see. A misunderstaning then.

The psiphi.org site works for me but apparently hasn't been updated in years.

That site was round a bout way to here. I recall it had an early link to Jammer's reviews and that lead me to here in 99.

    So long ago...

I didn't join up until about two years into the run of the BBS and I don't recall hearing about psiphi at the time. If I did I've long since forgotten about it.

same here. I had had a look at the board in 2000 but being a pacifist disliked the military ranks and decided to not join. I registered in 2001 by request from Che Guevara who by that time was still a quite nice teenager and a rather well-liked member of Keith Cobb's [Tyr Anasazi in "Andromeda"] personal message board. He (Che, not Keith) turned nuts only about a year later - might have something to do with legal drinking age...

Tim Lynch's DS9 reviews led me to Delta Blues & Jammer's reviews which led me here. Took me until 2001 (Voyager's impending departure) to join.

I stumbled here completely by accident. I was Googling (Lycosing?) something completely innocuous and irrelevant and it took me here. I wish I could remember what it was I was looking for.

    Probably porn.

I think I used a Hotbot search to find this place (remember Hotbot? Its creators probably don't, neither) when I was looking for news pages, chat rooms and message boards related to Trek. Before I found the Trek BBS I was an infrequent visitor to a couple of sci-fi/fantasy chat rooms and would occasionally post comments at a couple of other sites.

And less than one year here to join TerranBBS :D

Btw, you're missed over there :)

Have any of you been members at aSciFi.com? Man, that was a huuuuuge board! Easily 25 times the size of TrekBBS. I used to hang out in their Trek, Andromeda and ancient SciFi sections.

I guess I'm an old timer, been here since 2001. I recognize several of the "old names" that are thrown around. Though I"m not sure people would really remember or know me as I'm kinda "under the radar" and never really got into it with many people (i.e. heated debates or stuff like that, I've always enjoyed reading comments here though).

Plus I'm the kinda poster that drops in and out. For instance I just recently came back after a hiatus from late 2009, and before that I hadn't been around since about 2006. But I was here a lot back in the early 2000s. I remember maybey about 10-12 years ago myself and some other posters got into some big trouble for hassling the Voyager crowd a bit too much. We repeatedly spammed the VOY forum with "Janeway needs to be raped to let her character grow like Kirk, Picard and Sisko" threads (hey we were all more immature) and it pissed off a lot of the VOY fans, especially the women at the time. There was one guy, I forget his name who kept insisting that VOY fans were all from England b/c the English are known for bad taste in TV and they should be banned from acquiring American citizenship and such. The VOY bashing got pretty out of hand in those days as there was a lot of fan outrage at VOY for sinking the franchise. There were many complaints and finally the mods took action.

Welcome back, Jobi! Hang on a bit this time - the board is quite nice atm. I particularly recommend the Flaptains' Lounge. There are quite a few incredibly nice Fleet Captains right now. I so regret that I'll get promoted in a few posts :( I'm really tempted to ask Bonzie to arrange a little accident to my postcount

Congratulations to Unicron who's been here for a decade now!

And I just discovered that I missed my own back-1-year anniversary on May 1st LOL (talk about Altzheimer...)

    YAY! Go, oldtimers!

I joined for the first time in 2001 under a different username, just as Enterprise was coming out. I remember the Reed Rage threads and some of the early shipping wars.

Then, my old account having lapsed, I rejoined in 2003. I was a finalist in one of Katie and Jethro's Great Miscellaneous Competitions, and may even still have some of my entries floating around somewhere.

Those early Enterprise 'shipper threads annoyed the crap out of me at the time but I eventually looked back on them rather fondly. Back when the ENT forum stretched multiple pages and there were at least a dozen threads at any given moment dedicated to one character snogging another one it could be kind of irritating to slog through the 'shipping to get to threads with meatier content, but after the show was prematurely killed off and the forum slowly withered to the relatively quiet state it's in now I learned to appreciate the more hectic and goofy days when we had ten different threads about T'Pol's bad wigs or Malcolm's butt.
