I just got curious as to what this cost to make. It only cost $16 million to make. As of 6 days in release its made $8.3 million. This project is not going to lose money. Only the studios expectations, which we won't ever know, of higher things could be bruised. Then there are the DVDs. Megan Fox is not quite the next Lohan but stay tuned. Lets all see how response is to her in Jonah Hex next summer.
And with DVD sales and rentals, and then TV, it will probably eventually make money. I think the real test was whether or not Megan Fox could open a movie.
You know, success or failure, this seems like the type of title that the studio will try to milk with unrelated straight-to-DVD sequels.
Seriously though, in the age of internet hardcore porn where shit eating is considered 'meh', why would people really care about a bland lesbian kissing scene in a movie? It's not like its 1992 when Basic Instinct was the flaming hit of the decade. Peoples' access to sexually charged stuff has come a long way in 17 years.
I saw the film last night. I went in expecting some no-brainer fun, and that's what I got. I thoroughly enjoyed it! I loved the whole sequence of where Jennifer shows up at Needy's house right after she had become a demon. That was pure gold for me. So I'm wondering in the storyline, how much of it was Jennifer, and how much was the demon?
After its 2nd weekend it dropped from #5 to #8, however has made $12.3 million in 10 days on a $16m budget. Megan may not have opened this flick big but as noted in this thread some blame falls to the marketing department for that. This very thread has people saying its a decent enouogh movie for what it is. Jennifers Body is not likely to go down as a black mark against her by the industry/studios. By the way how was she on SNL this past weekend? I haven't heard.
She was alright. Left most of the heavy comic lifting to the cast. The most interesting thing was one of the new people in a sketch dropped an F-bomb. Actually, it might be a black mark against her...or perhaps a gray mark...Many were looking at this movie to see if she could open a movie. And clearly, she can't. People didn't come out to see her.
QFT This movie will definitely have a negative effect on her future film prospects (how much she is offered as well as which parts).
