OK I admit I went off the deep end last week and thought is was going to be some very very lame witch hunt while Luther did his mayhem thang. What a difference an episode makes. Hooeee.
It just sucks you in. Idris Elba's dead ugly though.

^Really? To each his (or her) own, I suppose. I find Idris to be smokin' hot. YOWZA.

I can't wait to see more of "Luther."

I have to wait a while before Luther is here in the US but I cannot let the idea that he's ugly stand. I wish I looked like him because hot damn!

This surprises me too. I would have thought he would be considered a very attractive man.

Anyway, i'll have to return to this thread tomorrow in case I get spoiled.

As far as jaw-droppingly intense and hard hitting scenes go, the one where...

has to be up there with the best of them. Great stuff.

Damn, I've been waiting for this show to return for ages now and I had no idea it's already back. Must. Watch. Now.

    Yes, yes, it would be.

And yet, I knew Justin was a goner the moment he chased after Tom.

On the plus side, Alice is back next week! Still bummed out by the lack of Paul McGann this season, however.

It would be infinitely more enjoyable without the dreadful Scot who's about as menacing as a poodle except the poodle could act better. DCI Gray could just as easily been after him on her own or with a credible investigation team. From the teasers for next week she arrests him for murdering Justin so it will be interesting how they manage to work that one in, given Luther doesn't have a shotgun and the crazy guy does. You can feel Alice coming even before she's mentioned. I love Alice.

Yep, I'm glad Alice is back. When I first started watching series 1, I thought her involvement was a bit silly. But I quickly warmed to the chemistry she had with Luther. And every time the dreadful Scot is onscreen I just want Luther to punch him in the fizzog.

Everything is wrapped up neat and tidy without really earning the resolution. The episode was great until the point that he wasn't arrested on the spot. Him just walking off into the sunset feels cheap, but goddamn if it wasn't a hell of a ride.

I thought that last episode was not that great. TBH, the whole concept was very far fetched and the gunman's motives just didn't make a lot of sense.

Elba, as always, raised it up to a watchable level.

His motives made perfect sense. He started a crusade, then screwed it all up by killing a cop and lost the public support he was counting on. In order to make any of it worth while, he took the only steps he thought might at least bring him vengeance against the man who killed his wife. It is an unreasonable kind of sense, but he was clearly an unreasonable man at that point.
