We're going to get 1 single disk as a gift to a friend who loves the film but we know doesn't care for special features.

We're getting the 2 disk DVD for use now AND 1 - 3 disk BD set for when we finally do our upgrade (which has been on hold due to uncertainty over which BD player/HDTV to purchase. )

What's the use of buying a dvd that doesn't have commentary? :D

Haven't decided. I've not even seen the differences between all the different versions.

Basic question: do you just want the movie plain & simple?
    Single disk.
If you want more, that's where the decisions must be made.
My thing is deleted scenes. Other peeps like featurettes, commentary & stuff.

I'm getting the normal 2 Disc DVD from Best Buy and I'll have to wait until the day after which really sucks.

I think very few people listen to those.

I like to have the option anyway, and I do listen to commentary in John Carpenter/Kurt Russell movies, 'cause they're SOOO funny.:guffaw:

I love the DVD commentaries. The commentary with Jonathan Frakes on the First Contact blu-ray is hilarious and well worth listening.

Amazon says mine hasn't even been sent out yet.

WHERE do you live and WHO did you order from?

Amazon is expected to ship on the 17th in the U.S. (delivery estimate for mine is somewhere in the Nov. 20 to 24 zone) and "today's post" would suggest that Neutral Zone is probably in the UK.

I'm gonna guess he's in England since he said "post."

We did that. We opened it early :0

I've had the 3 disc bluray set for almost 3 weeks (26/10). :p

Even the one disc set has a commentary, if you believe trekmovie.com (it looks like they copied from some pr blurb:

    http://trekmovie.com/2009/11/14/new-star-trek-dvdblu-ray-featurette-clips/

    I'm very few then. :D

Me too. I find them very interesting to liten to as some things are mentioned that are not mentione in the featurettes etc.

As of which to purchase, well, the 3-disc BD is a must, to get ready for my blu ray player that i will eventually buy, but for now itll the two disc dvd.

My local CVS (as usual) is breaking street-date & selling Trek right now. But it's the single disk AND it's $24.99.
    No thanks- I'll wait.

Our local Target just dropped their price for the 3 Disc w/ Enterprise Blu-ray case to $24. I swear on Tuesday morning at 8 AM, I will be freezing my rear end off waiting to get that movie!

I've pre-ordered the 2-disc DVD from Amazon. I'd love to get the Blu-Ray, but I don't have a Blu-Ray player. I probably won't get one until they offer one that will play every format my $40 Philips plays (I can't live without DivX compatibility, me).

That said, I am DROOLING over all the featurettes on the Blue-Ray set :( Particularly anything involving Gaila.
