[yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2nj8myw98Vw[/yt] Directed by Jee-woon Kim, this is going to be fun. And Johnny Knoxville basically plays the same guy he played in Walking Tall starring Dwayne Johnson.
Looks like the dozens of straight-to-video action flicks starring B and C-list actors that clutter up the shelves at Blockbuster (and RedBox kiosks) to me -- both in poster design and the trailer. It remains to be seen if Schwarzenegger can rediscover some of the charm he hasn't been able to regain since the late 90s...
I was hoping this would be more than just a cheesy action flick, but... it does look like it could be fun.
Something looks.....off. Maybe the stance? You can see Schwarzenegger looks his age. I guess i'm used to seeing Terminator 2 Arnold with the shotgun.
That looks cheesy as hell (like many Schwarzenegger films), but it's good to see Arnie back in action headlining his own film as opposed to an ensemble like The Expendables, so I'm there unless it's universally reviled by critics and audiences. If Clint Eastwood can still be an action star when he's older than dirt, Arnie can pull it off too.
Oh dear. Arnold has failed to ignore The Last Stand...this is what happens when one doesn't Seriously though, this looks like it could be cheesy fun
Looks like a fun popcorn movie. Arnold was a big part of my childhood though, I can't imagine missing this for anything.
At one stage, Liam Neeson was attached. I can't help but thinking that this movie would have been a bit more interesting with someone who can pass for a normal member of the human race, such as Neeson, than with Arnie. Arnie looks even more ridiculous now, with that Stan Laurel haircut (clearly dyed) and his plastic face. The idea of Arnie as a small-town sheriff is just totally far-fetched to me. And they always give him some all-American name - why not give him a Germanic sounding name that actually suits him? Premise-wise, it seems to be a mix of the Bruce Willis movie Hostage and the under-rated One False Move from some years back. The idea could have been done as a very tense thriller but they seem to have gone for laughs and corn over tension. While the trailer was admittedly fun, it struck me as kind of a wasted opportunity - though full marks for playing up Arnie's age.
It looks off because it is.. I don't care how muscle bound you are, that's just a great way to invite injury... Arnold has fired enough guns in his day to know this... Maybe it's just the angle of the camera, but as somone who has fired shotguns before, that is NOT the way you hold it.. The kickback would be a killer.
In this one he's named Ray Owens, so I guess he must be of Welsh descent. He's had a fairly good mix of Germanic sounding names as well, and then completely off the wall last names like Matrix in Commando, which is French in origin and derived from Latin, although that was one of the few movies where they gave him a Germanic backstory (he grew up in East Germany). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arnold_Schwarzenegger_filmography I see what you're saying, but ultimately acknowledging his accent doesn't really matter unless they draw attention to it in the movie. If they put too much emphasis on it, you wind up with silly stuff like explaining Van Damme's accent and command of English by saying he grew up in the Louisiana bayou, and then giving him a French mother who didn't speak English and a father who spoke perfect English with an American accent.
Is it me or does that poster look like Schwarzenegger's head is awkwardly photoshopped onto a much smaller body?
Nothing about the poster is as awkward as the random Camaro in the lower right, at the wrong perspective.
