Well inspired by a certain madman's thread, I'm going to give a go at doing the Doomsday Machine Alien-style, as designed by Giger...

    Here's the first pass:

    Hmm....

Needs more ribbing and weird tubes...

    Actually it's a great start!

^^I think those are both the same suggestion! :D

And I do plan to add more... ummm, stuff, this is the general shape mockup. :D

I was going to make a penis joke too, but refrained. I love the stuff from Alien but when I looked up some of Giger's other work, I was a little surprised....

All I can say about H. R. Giger is "Ewwww...."

Cool idea, Klaus. I've always been fascinated by Giger's Bio-Mechanical style. Hmmmm, maybe the mandibles could flex open and a "teethed throat" could jut out and snatch up starships. ;-)

^Alternately, beam emitters could emerge alien-mandible-wise from each of the protrusions when firing the anti-ptoton beams.

Here's a small update, tweaked the mouth a little and re-did the ribs, they have more variation and go all the way back now.

That makes it look more like something from DUNE now...

Now that would be intersting if the Dune sandworms and this http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Exogorth

were related, and inspired the planet killer...

Publiusr, I actually did that as a gag render a while ago, employing a digital model of a "Dune" sandworm as the planet killer. Oddly enough, it didn't look as goofy as I expected.

    Sincerely,

    Bill

Hmmm... y'know, having it coming out of one rock like the beast from ESB that the Falcon landed in and eating another might be interesting. An actual living DM. Hmmm. Something more snake-like would be Gigerish too.

OK, here's the new concept... an actually-living planet-eater.

    The SPERM of DOOM!

I'd go with an earlier suggestion and add mandibles of some sort. :)

OK took a new tack, using an actual alien head mesh as the basis for the DM...

considering the warp nacelles there seem "turned off" im betting this ship will be nomnom's for the creature soon. Looks awesome though :)

Looks like a relation to Vaal. Another idea is for debris to spiral in a space tornado formed only of debris. The tuscaloosa tornado of last year had red rock horizontal vortices and looked all Lovecraftian:

The idea of a ship that is not a ship--a ship that is itself a warp--a cosmological defect like a texture or a tessaract. But in a way--that has been done--the Tardis...

This might be turned into a planet killer
