I was at a Cubs / Mets game a few years back where a brawl broke out and I'm pretty sure there's no "feud" there, just two teams that sucked donkey dick at the time.

Edit: I suppose "at the time" is a bit superfluous.

That's for sure... but it will be awesome to see the two best teams in baseball going head to head!

I'm not sure if any trade can save the Giants at this point. Bumgarner is supposed to be the stopper and he got roughed up tonight. Even if the Pirates only scored 1 run, the Giants offense is terrible and now the defense looks like they are imploding. Can't believe this is the same team that was 41-20 at the start of June. Yeah I know they have injuries, but the rest of the team is awful.

Jonathan Papelbon has told the Phillies that he will not waive his no-trade clause to go to a team that will use him as anything less than a full-time closer.

Never give a relief pitcher a no-trade clause. Rube gonna Rube.

I keep waiting for a batter to burst out laughing when Pap does that stupid staring move he always does. :guffaw:

And that Braves pitcher who looks like he's trying to hover and/or do an ostrich impression every time he's on the mound...

He has a .880 OPS in his career against lefties. Basically he's an ideal platoon guy.

A's score six in the 9th to win in Houston, and Manny "man-child" Machado hits a walk-off homer in the 12th to beat the Angels.

    Somewhere Digits is screaming.

I think next time we send in a pinch runner for Pujols...

As for the A's. they've obviously made a deal with Satan.

Oh yes... and I don't care. If Billy Beane ever sold his soul, he would get an amazing deal.

There are rumors... of course he may have sold it already so that Brad Pitt would play him in Moneyball.

After a relatively few quiet weeks following the Oakland / Chicago trade, things are heating up:

    - Justin Masterson went to the Cardinals for James Ramsey, which is a hilarious trade of junk for junk.

    - The Marlins are in on Lackey.

    - Cubs just got Felix Doubront.

    - Dodgers are out on Price, Hamels and Lester.

    - On that note, the Red Sox are actively shopping Lester and Baltimore has a strong offer in for him, but Cherington doesn't want to trade him inside the division.

    - Yankees ain't buying shit

Edit: ESPN says that Lester to Baltimore is pretty close, and on the Cubs side, Bonifacio was scratched from the lineup and has been told to "prepare for a deal."

Just fucking cut him. That was one move that always looked unequivocally bad. It wasn't a gamble. It wasn't "well, we don't have a lot of options anyway." It was "let's get rid of the guy we have who seems just as good for somebody we can pay far, far more who happens to be a bigger name." In addition, he comes off as having a terrible attitude. He doesn't want to be here, but doesn't apparently want to be traded either.

He's far different from the players who have been here awhile and love being in Philly, but are frustrated by not winning. Or even the players who don't want to leave but might still have some trade value and might not get a choice. Or a player like Howard whose contract is an albatross, but at least earned goodwill through years of being a good part of this team. Papelbon has none of that going for him.

I agree with you, but there's one problem: Papelbon is owed potentially $26 million over the next two seasons, and Philadelphia's owners don't want just eat that as a sunk cost -- they're still paying Ryan Howard a zillion dollars to OPS like .680, there's no way they're cutting Papelbon.
