I'm delighted to see it's coming out in less than a month! I thought it wasn't due until October. I've already pre-ordered mine!

Oh, hey, they actually do have the Power Records comics! They also have multiple editions of some things, even all the various Gold Key reprints.

And they also have DC's Who's Who, which is good. Too bad they don't have the Marvel ST/X-Men crossovers, though. Although I still have those.

Wow, I didn't realize that was coming out so soon. If I have a job by the time this comes out, I will be getting this. I can't wait to finally get to check out all of these different comics I've been hearing about for years.

Is anyone else having trouble getting the large-scale image of the DVD packaging, including the comic list to load?

I'm dying to see the comic list, but it won't allow me to, argh!

Well, I tried to pre-order it and Amazon.com is refusing to deliver it to Britain. Great :(

That means, I have to wait until it is out and get it via Ebay. At least that works. I also got the Spider-Man, Iron-Man and Civil War sets via Ebay.

Thanks for this, it's really appreciated. Perhaps it's not working for me as I'm based in the UK.

Also, my copy of your new book should arrive in the post before the weekend, can't wait to read it!

    Thanks for posting the list.

I do see that they seem to have left off the two ST - X-Men crossovers that Marvel did, though. I assume that there is probably some sort of copyright issue for the MArvel characters there.

I'm going to pick this up for its research value, if nothing else. Even though I've got everything on that list with the exception of individual GK issues and a few of the old book/record sets -- including stuff that's not there (LA Times strips) -- it'll be nice to have it all in one place.

I can't see myself getting rid of my actual comics/collections/etc. though. I'm too old-school and still love walking into my downstairs library and seeing all that stuff on the shelves. :)

Hmm... the DC/Malibu crossover miniseries also appears to be missing from that list...

I'm betting it's there. Seems odd to leave it out, considering everything else DC and Malibu are throwing into the pot.

Sorry, I neglected to list the DC/Malibu crossover, which is on the DVD. I've amended the list accordingly. Basically the only things it doesn't have (reprints aside) are the Trek/X-Men crossovers, the newspaper strips, and the TokyoPop and IDW stuff that's still in print.

There's a lot here I've never read: Most of the Gold Keys, all the Power Records, many of the Malibus, most of the '90 Marvels, about half the Wildstorms. And even more that I have read but no longer own.

Man, it's going to be nice to have the fugitive-Bird-of-Prey/Kirk-commanding-the-Excelsior years back again, and I don't care if they can't possibly be shoehorned into the movie continuity.

On another site, it was mentioned that the Star Trek/X-Men crossovers would be included, and the note seemed to come from someone involved in the production of the collection (though I may be mistaken about their role).

I disagree. There is nothing about those issues that flatly contradicts the movie continuity. In fact, I think it was a pretty smooth transition, if a wee bit contrived.

Oh, yes there is. In fact, it even contradicts itself. Namely, the "Doomsday Bug" arc pre-ST IV claims that the Bird of Prey is miraculously small enough to fit inside the Excelsior's shuttlebay, even though the "Mirror Universe Saga" issues clearly (and accurately) showed it to be so large that it had to be towed by tractor beam behind/beneath the Excelsior.

And of course there are things in the DC comics that were contradicted later on, like Starfleet using cloaking devices or Koloth dying in issue 2 (and he came back without explanation later in the same series). But who cares what they do or don't contradict? What matters is that they're cool stories.
