CC's retcon: Leia's memory of her mother was just a Force vision she had when she was very young, cf Yoda's, "old friends, long gone."

Creative. That, or maybe Leia was just remembering images that Bail Organa had implanted in her mind as she grew up, unwittingly leading his adoptive daughter to believe she had actually seen her real mother when she never had. Bail and his wife could have spun some stories about Padmé when Leia was a little girl and over the course of time she just assumed the images in her head were firsthand visual experiences recorded in the actual presence of her birth mother when she was very, very young.

Leia, unlike Luke, grew up around someone who had been close to Padme. Her memories of her mother, which are quite similar to what Bail would have remembered, may be the result of an unconscious application of her Force potential during that period.

Leia said all she remembers were feelings mainly, her mother was beautiful but sad.
