what is with you guys and your fascination with the borg that they need to be a bad guy in these movies?

It's not a fascination, it's a guess. But I'm not against a Kirk vs. the Borg flick.

I'm honestly hoping we never see the Borg again. Ever ever ever.

That's actually what I had been hoping this one would be about.

The Borg got completely neutered by Voyager. It would be good to see them again as a serious threat with no Borg Queen, no Phlox immune system, no recreational assimilation (Voyager), but I don't know if they'd be the villains we'd see on the big screen anytime soon.

Oddly enough, the last time we saw the Borg was ten years ago on Enterprise. We haven't seen them since. I wouldn't want another Borg movie, but I would be curious to see how the new team behind Trek would re-introduce and re-design them.

I bet they could make the Borg terrifying once again.

Considering the trend these films are going, the Borg would go on a revenge against the Federation, Kirk would be busted down and promoted up, and the Enterprise would be smashed up again. These films are becoming as predictable as the Bond films.

But it WAS nitpicking when you corrected me. I consider it as such.

It's more a guess of what the writers will go for - given how highly unoriginal they are

Well I don't see how it can be nitpicking to say that your statement is flat out wrong, but I won't lose sleep over it.

Ok, let me check that rather than work from memory :

Since it WAS filmed, partially, at the brewery (engineering is more than just the warp core), then you were wrong. Unless you consider the rest of the machinery not engineering, in which case we're just clashing over definitions.

    TMP: Enterprise unscathed.
    TWOK: heavily damaged.
    TSFS: destroyed.
TVH: (only a cameo at the end).
    TTF: no damage.
    TUC: heavily damaged.
    GEN: Enterprise destroyed.
FC: quite a bit of internal redecoration.
    INS: no damage.
    NEM: heavily damaged.

Nine movies with an Enterprise before ST09 and STID. Two are destroyed; three take a lot of battle damage; one is significantly damaged internally the Borg. Being on an Enterprise in the movies is like taking a chance on a Carnival cruise ship, for crying out loud.
