I like this one more too. I think the rail in the back is solid and not broken up, though. I also wouldn't put it past JJ to have only 1 turbolift going to the bridge.

Gotta disagree with your camera placement for the crew photo, ancient. To the left of Chekov it appears we can see part of the helm console, with what might be Sulu's pop-up scanner sticking up.

If you looks between Kirk and bones (just to the right of Kirk's injured hand) there is a clear space where the rail should be, but isn't. So I think it ends somewhere behind Kirk's chair, then is back for the hostess. That's my theory anyway.

Uh oh, you could be right. I'll look into it...

Are we really going to keep calling it the hostess' station? My immediate assumption is that the captain's yeoman finally got a podium from which to work. I still think it's idiotic, mind you. Looks ridiculous.

Follow the line of the railing in the photo; It does appear to break right at the stansion by McCoy - note that you can see the chair and the person at the station behind with no obstruction.

ETA: Still think the door to the turbolift should be further forward.

Looks like a real good approximation. :techman:

The one thing I would change is the placement of the one glass panel. I believe it actually further away than it appears. Looks to me that it's right next to the turbo lift - separating the lift, from the rear workstations. In fact, behind Spock, there may be another panel to the right of the turbo lift door.

Here is my butchering of the photo to fill in details blocked by spock's big head. I can't tell it's exact relation to the stuff on the left because of the glass stuff, but on the right it appears to be recessed.

I broke the pic into five peices to better line things up.

As for the glass box on the right of the Hostess (her left), it doesn't even look like it goes all the way to the floor, and I can't see anything supporting it.

    ...Maybe it floats...? :p

I like 2.0, though I think that the glass partitions are more likely at an exact right angle.

Ya I you're right. This bridge was initially bad, but it seems to be growing on me.

Nice guesstimates. Im working on a 3d version of what the chair may look like in full. its in sketch mode at the moment and probably wont make it to 3d but ill give it a go around work.

    Yes!

She will always be the hostess.

When you see the movie, i bet the first thing you think of is; "Table for two please, non smoking."

I did a zoom up of the area just below the pedestal, and it looks like there is a partial wall there, about 24-30" high that the glass box is supported on (and/or possibly retracts into). If there is one on the opposite side of the turbo lift, then it's kind of creating a 'mini corridor"

Yes, I agree. I think it's worthy of consternation that the miniskirts aren't their original length.

And if they really wanted a modern reboot for the uniforms, they could just add thongs underneath those skirts!

    LOL.

Well, if you could call Nichelle's piece of thread a thong.

So, unlike Star Wars, Trek does have underwear in space. Gravity defying bras and Shatners gravity defying gut are now explained.

We may all be amazed and surprised to find her station is awesome in the movie... :alienblush:
Until then, yeah it's a hostess station!

    and

Exactly! It seems to me that the one plexiglass thingamabob next to the hostess station, tangential to the railing, is in the right place - but the other one is misplaced. It should

    1) be more or less at right angles with the first one,
    2) be quite distant from it, and almost the same width, and
    3) go radially out from the railing, not in.

It would be a nuisance to traffic, then. But many of the bridge structures are.
