So, it's the set we've all been waiting for, right?

If you're in this forum, you probably already know the answer is no (JUST KIDDING); stick with me folks, this one's a doozy:

Better late than never, I suppose...or is it about a year and a half too early?

This is the BD release of the year for me! The IMAX footage filling the screen in my cinema room alone is worth whatever the asking price may be!

Finally! They've got their $#*! together... It ought to be a separate IMAX release of STID really though. Variable aspect ratio alone is probably enough to justify double-dipping. Anybody who cares probably already has a 2 disc of ST 2009... so that's dead weight.

It's a Compendium set that feels like it's jumping the gun a bit. A year later in 2015 and it would be riding high on the buzz beginning to emerge about a third in production. Probably a go-to collection for new fans when that's in cinemas.

I don't double dip often, but the IMAX footage is enough reason for me to do so (I really like the IMAX variable ratio on the Nolan Batman films--was disappointed it wasn't initially available with Trek).

And this is why I didn't purchase STID the first time around.

Nice now I can get rid of my Star Trek 2009 3 disk dvd set, the blu-ray single disk and the 3 disk Target exclusive STiD blu-ray. This will clear some shelf space. Time to pinch pennies since Capt. America Winter Soldier and season 1 of Agents of SHIELD come out the same day.

Hopefully the rebate for those of us who bought STiD on blu-ray is a nice one and not a cheapo one.

Still going to wait for the trilogy set...and then the fix of the trilogy set...

    Have at it, though. :D

Will that make the eventual 13 film box set the Star Trek Encyclopedia?

Given your very cool screen name, I figure you'd hold out for "The Compleat Trek". :)

I'm very glad that they're doing this. I agree that the timing is unusual, however, I believe that an all 12 will be released together for the 50th in 2016.

I know it's unrealistic, but I do wish the studios would release blu-rays with the original theatrical IMAX aspect ratio rather than crop it to 1.78. I understand why they crop them, there would be a lot of complaining over the shifting aspect ratios between 2.35 and 1.44, but that's no more jarring than 2.35 and 1.78, at least for me. :)

It's coming out Sept. 9---so I think the timing is no more than a day off.

I'll be getting this day 1.

I wish they would open up the non-IMAX scenes on top and bottom so that the whole movie is 16:9 fullscreen.
