About $300 dollars at the Cincinnati Comic Expo between tickets, food and swag. Wife got a Paul McGann autograph and a picture with him. He kissed her on the cheek afterward. She said it was the best $65 she ever spent. I got a 'Carl' FunkoPop Minion and my son got a shirt, a weeping angel and some Lego's.
Couple of weeks ago, I paid to have my picture taken with William Shatner at Fan Expo in Toronto, ON. And last week, I bought a copy of Cinema 4D modeling software off of eBay. Oh, yeah, I bought my wife a pair of saphire earrings for our 30th anniversary on the 15th.
Mrs. bbailey861 is from Saskatchewan. We went back in July just as they were wrapping up filming of the Corner Gas movie. We visited Rouleau, SK, (which doubles as Dog River) where the gas station and the Ruby still stands. They were having a Corner Gas weekend (Dog River Days) to celebrate the completion. Did you know they were making a movie? Last purchase: bread and vegetables.
Yeah, and much SQUEEEE ensued when I heard of that. So you've been to the 'real' Dog River? Dammit! I wish I'd had the time to get out there and do that. I so cannot wait for this movie! (and it took me awhile to realize that the interiors of the Ruby, the police station, and Oscar & Emma's house, are all studio sets. Meaning, they don't actually film 'on location' inside them, like they do with the gas station.)
didn't make it past the sweets shop again *sigh* They have these wonderful old-fashioned things like Knuspermünzen (crispy hazelnut candy in coin-shape) or the striped silk-cushions (crispy mints with a chocolate filling), peppermint balls and coconut cubes. Not to mention their handmade chocolates...
We have been there many times. During the filming of the series, the gas station interior was on location as you saw it on TV. The exterior Ruby was as you saw it but when you looked in the windows, you could see where they stored all the lights etc they needed for filming. This time when we were back we stuck our head in the window again and you know what? The Ruby was perfect! Not a storage area but the actual Ruby. Counter, booths, the works! I wonder if - this time - they filmed inside and are going to do some shots going outside? It'll be interesting to see. You want to know what else....my wife is from Wullerton (spit). Yes, that's right - the next town over (although it isn't Wullerton in real life. In real life, Dog River is Rouleau and Wullerton is....well, I'll let you look it up if you really want to know... Last purchase: Oats to make oatmeal cookies.
A TARDIS Specifically one in the form of a cookie jar that lights and makes the TARDIS engine noise when you open it.
