He is calling himself "Arrow". But its possible someone else may call him Green Arrow. Maybe a one off newspaper headline or a dismissive joke by another character.
I think the title for a TV series is fine. But in the show itself, the character should keep his comic book name. My guess is that if this series actually gets picked up and moves beyond the original order then we will see the full name.
How often does a shows name change from pilot to series? If it's happened I have to believe it's rare. I don't think the show would change to Green Arrow on the title card.
I agree, there is not going to be a title change. I was thinking just a one off reference for fans. He does use Green Arrows. Maybe the phrase will be used that way to describe evidence of his existence. I have often thought that Superheroes with color based names are odd. I can't imagine anyone naming themselves "Green Arrow" or "Blue Beetle". Its the type of name I could see the press using but in a dismissive way.
The title of the show could certainly stay the same "Arrow" while having Ollie called "Green Arrow". Nobody ever complained about the title Smallville, I don't think.
Names based on colors don't strike me as odd since they're straightforward and simply descriptive of the superhero's appearance. Names based on superlatives are much weirder if you apply real world logic (which of course one shouldn't when it comes to some aspects of superheroes). Superman and Wonder Woman maybe get away with it because they're given their names by the press, but for Reed Richards to choose to call himself Mr. Fantastic is rather strange: [yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rSMg_GWiBt0&feature=player_detailpage[/yt]
Now, this is an odd comics character to bring in: http://www.greenarrowtv.com/arrow-casts-firestorms-stepmother/11407 New trailer: http://www.tvguide.com/news/arrow-new-trailer-1051866.aspx
It actually makes perfect sense if you understand that Reed Richards is a total asshole - his best friend has just been turned into a rock monster due to Reed's shoddy job on shielding the ship and Ben says "I ain't Ben anymore, I'm what Sue called me... The Thing" and what are the next words out of Reed's mouth? "And I'll call myself Mr. Fantastic!" Guy is an asshole.
HEY! Rassusfrackking smashusrakking frakkusrashing... Jack Harkness is Batman? Hmmm? So can we expect to see Firestorm in later episodes?
I caught this trailer last night and I like it so far, I am not really familiar with Green Arrow, but I liked what I saw. Also, as someone who hasn't seen smallville, I'm glad this will be a fresh show so I don't feel like I'm missing a huge backstory. ( To be fair, I really enjoyed Fraiser without ever having seen much of Cheers at all; maybe not a good analogy though ) -Kytee
So I'm watching the CW fist look, and there's this REALLY REALLY ATTRACTIVE blond guy cast as NuMcSteamy in the Greys Anatomy rip off which I will be so be watching since it ticks all the boxes, even though i know the female lead as a queen bitch, and now she's playing a mouse... But then Merideth Grey and Ally McBeal both started off as little mice and quickly turned into big C's... But the incredly sexy mcSteamy facsimile? Justin Hartley. So maybe they didn't shoot it all together, the actors arrived sporadically for diffferent call times across the expanse of a few days, but there's a fair chance that Justin, formerly Smallvilles Green Arrow, and the cast of "Arrow" totally got all Sharks vs. the Jets while some one was trying to diligently film The CW first look. Arrow looks good. Beauty and the Beast makes Arrow look like something by Oliver Stone.
^Well thats sounds good but the showing is still lacking the main bad guy that will make it or break it. Without someone for Arrow to square off with, without a nemesis of great evil to go up against our hero will just be fighting goon of the week and that just wont cut it. Lets hope more is in store.
So Huntress is not specifically tied enough to the Batman Family to keep her embargoed out of the show? I had though Bat related characters were off limits.
