Jar Jar Binks was not that bad, CGI-wise. Sure, he looks rather primitive compared to Gollum, Davy Jones, or Caesar the Ape, but he paved the way for characters like that.

I have a lot of problems with Jar Jar, but his CGI wasn't one of them. For the time it was pretty good, and I think it still holds up decently. I've seen a lot worse come out later, and not age nearly as well.
