Well donr to Daniel, first win,it was a pretty good race and mani was hoping for a double Mercedes retirement, wonder if they keep having these little problems and lewis retires from the races and nico problems go away and finishes, wonder if hamiltion start saying it a conspiracy that Mercedes wants rosberg and not him to win championship.

Of course Rosberg could have some DNF's, and today I would say Hamilton had the faster car, and Rosberg should have got a penalty for exceeding the track limits and gaining an advantage.

Rosberg was going to stay in the lead at that point anyway, Hamilton was not near enough to overtake him.

Giving a 5 second penalty for this as others have suggested would be OTT, he gained all of about a second in track position and it was clearly just a mistake. Were he to repeat the mistake, then sure give him a penalty. But he didn't "go off the track to stay in the lead", he was staying in the lead at that point regardless.

    Great race anyway.

Yes but as you yourself admit he gained an advantage by exceeding the track limits. If that rasied kerb extended all the way to the end with no gap, would he have held position? Or would he have had to slow down thereby losing the lead?

When Hamilton did the same thing, he did the correct thing and yeild position back to Rosberg otherwise he should have got a 5 second penalty. Sure in retospect you could say he shouldn't have and they couldn't give him a peanlty because they didn't give Rosberg one for a similar incident.

So that's Porsche screwed then (not that they were likely to win it, but 2nd maybe), and the Audi procession finally begins. What a shame. It's the wrong one in the lead as well :(

Real shame for Toyota #7 though. They should have had this in the bag.

That Schumacher story is confirmed. The fact that they're talking about rehab now has to be a good sign.

It's a good sign that his life is not in danger, but he could easily be in PVS or very badly brain damaged. I suspect the lack of any actual positive press release from the family detailing his condition means that he probably isn't doing so well.

Or perhaps they just think it isn't anybody else's business, but I think the former is more likely. His prognosis was extremely grim, even if he did come out of the coma.

So, looks like this season is going to turn out like last year then - gifted wins for an undeserving German prick (and this one isn't even a real German).

Spoke too soon! More like a gifted win for Hamilton, but it's about time for Rosberg to have some bad luck anyway so it's hardly undeserved. At least Alonso vs Vettel made up for the lack of Hamilton vs Rosberg.

Shame that Button missed out on 3rd. Always nice to have Ricciardo on the podium but Button going up there would have been something special.

Even more of a shame for Kimi and Massa. I was looking forward to them coming up through the field.

Also, those Santander trophies were just awful. They should have given out the proper one on the podium.

Agreed on the podium trophies, but it was still one of the better races this season. And races like that is why fans like the more classic cricuits Silverstone, Spa, Monza, Suzika etc..

If Rosberg wants to know where he lost the Hungarian GP, he didn't lose it by not being able t pass his team mate but by being stuck behind a Toro Rosso, what was it something like 14 laps stuck behiund Vergne. It took Hamiltion only a few laps to get past Vergne once he caught up to him.

    Yep.

Also, WTF were Mercedes thinking by invoking team orders at all? "Dude! See that other dude? You know, your only real rival for the championship? The one who already leads you on points? Yeah, let him past. Could be good for the team! You know, the team that's a gnat's bollock away from winning the team championship already? Yeah, do that."

Well to be fair Lewis said he would let Rosberg pass, but that he wouldn't slow down to do so.

The simple fact is Lewis was better all through the weekend at this track fastest in P1, P2 and P3. It's likely he would have been on pole had his car not caught fire. Rosberg should also consider that he only has an 11 point lead despite lewis having having suffered 1 more DNF than him, not to mention Lewis suffering brake failure during qualy in Germany. Sure Hamilton has not done himself any favours by his poor qualifing in Austria (as well as Britain). But thanks to two great drives in Germany and Hungary Rosberg should go into the summer break worried that his lead is so small despite all the issues Lewis has had.

True, but they shouldn't have asked him in the first place. And yep, Lewis has done remarkably well considering the roller-coaster nature of his season so far!

True, it is also possible that they actually cost Lewis a position or two by not switching him to the option tyres and brining him for a third pit stop like they did with Rosberg.

Yeah, if they would have both been on new tyres Alonso would have been toast!

Yes, and that's the real key. Hamilton is running away with the most valuable driver award. In straight head to heads with Rosberg, where neither driver has been hindered by circumstance, he has consistently beaten him.
