Well Clara could very well be the grandchild of the Doctor, if you remember in the doctors daughter, she died and came back as the same person.
just watched the doctors daughter and she departed saying "Oh, I've got the whole universe: planets to save, civilisations to rescue, creatures to defeat – and an awful lot of running to do." So is Jenny, Clara? and the doctors daughter? or granchild?
^But, again, we're not talking about that kind of regeneration. Clara had a grave. Her body was put in the ground, and presumably the Doctor, Vastra, et al. were involved in that process. If she'd regenerated and reawakened, they would've known about it. So no, she is not regenerating. She is not a Time Lady in whole or in part. (I was going to say "part-Time Lady," but that sounded like someone who spent the rest of her time as a gentleman.) This Clara died decisively and permanently and her remains were buried. But apparently there are several physically and chronologically separate individuals, spread across centuries, who somehow are the same woman.
It looks like the information that is Clara - her genome, at least, if not her entire personality, too - is being stored somewhere, and somehow she is being "reincarnated" across time. Whether it is deliberate or merely incidental to some other plan, goal, or phenomenon is what I want to know.
i think you need to remember that Jenny (the docs daughter) never regenerated straight away and just because you see a gravestone it doesnt mean that the person is there. Also remember in the xmas episode you had the memory worm.
OMG is Clara related to Donna as she is now half timelord????? Even worse has donna had children???????? Even Donna watched herself die
Or it is the same woman, we don't know if they're seperate individuals or if this Clara died permanently.
We also had the brief preview scene of Clara visiting her own grave saying, "I don't believe in ghost." Whoever/whatever Clara is, I think she's well aware of what's going on.
Of course I know that, but as I clearly stated, I assumed that the Doctor, Vastra, et al. would've been involved in arranging her burial, and thus would have known if she had come back to life after a few hours like Jenny did. Granted, the Doctor didn't actually see her gravestone until it was already in place (since it was only then that he learned her full name), but I'd think the others would've been aware of her burial arrangements. Besides, it's just so unimaginative to assume she's just something we've already seen. True, Moffat does return to the same wells rather often, but for now I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and believe he's come up with something less obvious.
QFT. I'm beginning to wonder if Clara might be what the universe does without the Doctor. He's going to lengths to unmake himself, and the void that was the Doctor must be filled. As the Master said, "A universe without the Doctor scarcely bears thinking of."
You mean that with eight episodes to go and then a special, the latter will involve "the fall of the eleventh" iteration of Clara? Intriguing, but sounds gloomy and fatalistic. It would mean nearly a year of Greek tragedy for the show. Others have pointed out that her birth date is November 23rd and that she died at the age of 26, so her life kind of reflects the show's first run in a metatextual sense.
Remember when Donna had to make sure she died in that car crash?, perhaps Clara has to do the same either to undo the doctors mess or perhaps change the future. What ever happens we will all be guessing right up to the big reveal. Remember the Moff gets some of his ideas from forums like this
She's my future wife and that's all that matters. Though having to watch her die over and over might be a bit of a turn-off.
I find this idea very intriguing. However, while Clara dying at the end of every episode would be super annoying, I think even more annoying would be the Doctor having to meet her again and again at the beginning of every episode.
I doubt Moffat would come near this place. Does he even like Trek? He originally wanted The Doctor to bash it during The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances.
I think this is about right. I suspect it's just the year's plot (the only one that spanned more than a year is River and that's because she didn't appear every episode). Anyway, I suspect the answer is none of the above and involves some kind of splitting in time. My guess is modern day Clara is first and whatever happens happens later. Basically, they are echoes in time created by something. But I'm not really going to think about it, I'm fine just enjoying the ride. As for Clara dying in each episode. It's an intriguing idea, but would get old quickly. The episodes aren't long enough to have to introduce her as a companion each time. And, while she may have some vague notion of herself in other timelines, she doesn't seem to remember everything.
It could be that the Clara we met at the end of the episode is going to be the companion Clara, and she and the Doctor will be seeking out other Claras (Clarae?) elsewhere in history. Maybe she's fragmented through time like Scaroth in "City of Death," and they need to merge her with all her other selves (those who survive, anyway).
