Hey, it's your thread. But now cheating is canon.

Actually this year, 58, has tons of good ones to choose from.

    Drinking songs:

An early chronicle of Road rage:

    How 'bout this double entendre?

    Bath-time!

    Killer instrumentals:

I could go on and on.

Further cheating from 1954... and the BttF soundtrack!

This version was actually recorded in 1960, but Annie's original version was from 1952.

And as long as I've got one from Lambert Hendricks & Ross, why not two?

Still cheating. Doubly this time. 1955's Johnny B Goode... McFly-style.

I didn't even know that was a real song! I thought they made it for the film.

The year of this all-time classic... (thanks, Shape-Shifter!)

And, 200 years into Trek's future, it's the birth of the Coalition of Planets:

(In case anyone here hasn't heard, 27 years ago today Gene Roddenberry received his star on the Hollywood W.O.F.)

In the future this year, the Enterprise tangles with the Xindi.

In the past, human beings on Sol III were listening to this...

^ According to my room-mate Iggy Pop covered that song. I cannot find it though.

I choose a couple of oddities for today, I still remember hearing both of these play on the radio, in my youth. :alienblush:

1st. One about a carved Indian, (like used to stand outside tobacco stores,) named Kaw-Liga.

    [yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_c1A8tmHuI[/yt]

2nd. Jim Reeves Country singe debut about a Mexican Bandito.

    [yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZBG6plk2M-w[/yt]

In case those are too obscure for everyone, surely you've heard this one at some time.

Hmm... I have no idea what it could be... totally stumped...

    Number twenty-nine from '52'

    [yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rws_7mLTqj8[/yt]

Chosen because it was later covered by Aerosmith.

And on Star Trek's 46th birthday, a huge bit of movie news. The Star Trek sequel will be called Star Trek Into Darkness.

Happy 46th, Star Trek! Here's a preview of Trek's premiere episode, "The Man Trap" from Sept 8, 1966:

    And now some Trek tributes....

^^Great video tributes, KingDaniel. They really enhanced our Trekday celebrations.

^Me too, and that is the only one from that year I recognize! I see plenty of names I know but no familiar titles. Also, songs are increasingly only available on YouTUBE as covers.

    This is incorrectly labeled 51.

He may be confusing that song with the Iggy & the Stooges cover of "Money (That's What I Want)"
