Fair enough, but I don't think it's established that he's exclusively tasked as her bodyguard from the point of view of TV viewers.

  2. I think they are trying to set up the idea that Joffrey is a rather stupid assassin for the big reveal that Joffrey tried to have Bran killed.

I have finished the Hedge Knight and the Sworn Sword. I quite enjoyed the Hedge Knight. The Sworn Sword was okay.

Started the Mystery Knight last night. It is shaping up to be an interesting read.

The are really setting up Shae to be more sympathetic
    - literally having Tyrion drive her into her Father's arms.

I wish there was more Warg stuff.

The Bear was pretty good. I'm glad they used a wooden sword. I was worried in the book that viewers would think Brienne was ineffectual with a steal (albeit dulled) sword.

Robb's baby. That's interesting. I wonder if anything will come of it.

It's really getting close to time to wrap things up.
    Three weddings. A wall war.
Does anybody know if they are planning to leave any of this for next season?

We might get to see the wall war, although I could also see them ending the season with the build-up of the wildlings at the wall as one of the possible cliff-hangers.

What I want to know is...where is the Horn of Winter? IIRC, Snow was supposed to have seen it and realized its significance long before he climbed the wall.

I think it's just the writers trying to ramp up the angst when his wife is skewered with child at The Red Wedding. Yes, I know that Jeylisa survived in the books, but she also stayed in Riverrun in the books. I doubt they'll keep her character or child alive.

We'll have Sansa's wedding next week and the RW the week after that.
The Purple Wedding won't be in this season. No reports whatsoever of it having been shot, as opposed to the RW. Also, no Dornish in King's Landing this season, and you can't have the royal wedding without all of your (still loyal) vassall states present.
Especially after Joffrey just whored his sister out to Dorne, the least they could do in return is to attend his wedding.

No wall war either. The actor who plays Pyp (who stayed at Castle Black) said he only shot one scene this season. Which means Jon's arc will most likely end with him returning to Castle Black in his final scene.

I also think we've seen the last of Jaime and Brienne this season. Their next stop in their story is King's Landing but they don't arrive there until after the PW.

Jeyne and Talisa's stories are completely irreconcilable. Unless they're going to pull her being an agent of Tywin out of nowhere next week they'll probably just get rid of her and as much of the remaining Robb-related plotline/characters as possible so it doesn't distract going forward.

Robb's downfall is, by far, the worst-handled plot translation of the show. Well, maybe Qarth is a close second.

George R. R. Martin has said his episode of season four is #2; I bet that's where we'll get the Purple Wedding.

I'm sure they'll contrive something else for Jaime and Brienne to do, as it's a little early for them to disappear for the season. Episode #10 could show their response to the Red Wedding, for example, which is briefly described in the Jaime chapter after they reach King's Landing.

At this point the Robb/Catelyn/Talisa material is so embarrassing I'm looking forward to the Red Wedding bringing an end to it.

I'm wondering if somehow Talisa survives this and Mellisandre acquires her to have another "kings" blood.

She could take the place of Dalla who hasn't had any presence in the show, but was present when Jon Snow first met Mance and had lines.

Similar to how it appear Gendry may assume some of the storyline of Edric Storm.

The producers seem to try to reduce the number of characters whenever possible and transfer actions to a character/actor fans of the show have already seen when it doesn't severely impact the plot.

Jon swapping Robb's child instead of Mance's would be a pretty enormous change.

I don't think so - she's already leaving Westeros and likely headed back to Dragonstone with Gendry.

However - we DO still have the Red Priest Thoros of Myr floating about with the BHw/oB, who may get a similar idea about King's blood after having met with Mellisandre briefly during her visit. We already know they will eventually "run into" Kat at some point and are in the general vicinity of the RW down at the Twins. It wouldn't be as much of a stretch for him to get a hold of Talisa and, ergo, Robb's child.

But now I think we'll REALLY be deviating from the written version way too drastically if that happens.

    So I saw this story
    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/...-Thrones-star-rebels-over-topless-scenes.html
Now, however, a star of the series has disclosed that one of its leading actresses has refused to appear in any more topless shots.

Oona Chaplin, who plays the noblewoman Talisa Maegyr, tells Mandrake: “One of the girls in the show who got her kit off the most in the first couple of seasons now doesn’t at all because she said, 'I want to be known for my acting not for my breasts.’ ”

The granddaughter of Charlie Chaplin refuses to name the actress, but there has been much comment among viewers about Emilia Clarke, who plays the king’s daughter Daenerys Targaryen, no longer appearing in such scenes.

Chaplin, 26, says she has no problem with the nudity herself. “I’m quite controversial when it comes to that because I adore women’s bodies,” she says at the first night of The Great Gatsby ballet at Sadler’s Wells. “If it’s done in a beautiful way, in a way that honours the female form, then I’m always happy to see it.”

Eh if Chaplin has problem being nude and showing her body why are her love scenes always dimly lit or shot at angles to not reveal everything?

Although I guess this reduces the chances that she survives this season. Not really smart to be picking fights with people on a show you're still going to be part of, but if she's done filming and know's that she's not going to be back might be a bit of sour grapes being off a hit show.

On Emilia Clarke's second season commentary track with director Alan Taylor he joked that her answer to any request for nudity in the second season would be a flat no. They shared a laugh about it. It does look like she put her foot down and didn't want to do any more nudity on the show, at least for a while, her position being very different as a popular star of an established hit rather than a newbie fresh out of drama school and cast in a plum role in the first season. She's obviously not completely averse to more nudity since she went nude on stage, but she probably wanted a break from screen nudity, especially given the incessant questions posed to her about it.

She might have been talking about Esme Bianco. Clarke was already being praised for her acting chops in season one, while Bianco was mainly there for the nudity and sexposition.

Esme Bianco didn't have as much nudity in the third season, but she did still have nude scenes.

I wouldn't call one half-bared breast nudity considering HBO's usual standards.

It's still nudity, albeit lesser nudity than what she did before. And Emilia Clarke is still the better bet. Bianco has a burlesque and cabaret background, has posed nude, and has spoken in defence of the show's nude scenes.

Edit to add: it's rumored that Emilia has a nude scene in tonight's episode. So, who knows? Maybe Oona Chaplin is just full of crap.

and quite a lengthy nude scene showing much more than anything Chaplin has ever done on the show. Perhaps it was Esme Bianco or even Sibel Kekilli since I don't think Shae has shown anything this year even though there were VERY many opportunities for those types of scenes with Tyrion in the books.

I realize both actresses have done significant nudity in the past, but that doesn't really mean anything. In fact maybe Bianco regretted being the postergirl for the show's nudity since she kept being asked about it so much and felt it defined her too much.

So I'm not sure what an actress has done in the past matters once they think they need to get 'away' from it for their careers. Traci Lords was a porn star, but once she went mainstream she did very few movies with nude scenes.
