Going a little off topic, of all the movies The Search For Spock has always felt, in places, a bit made-for-tv to me. This is very evident in some of the earlier Enterprise bridge scenes and I suppose lighting has a lot to do with it. Having said that ILM did some exceptional stuff with Spacedock, the Bird of Prey and the Enterprise blowing up.
I always smile upon seeing him at the helm, especially because The Search for Spock was released before Robocop. --Sran
How many of you realize that Count Rugen was manning the tactical station on Enterprise before Chekov took over in TWOK?
While I like the retro sixties-esque styling of the original Excelsior bridge, it's clear that it's just a cheap n' dirty mock up rather than a full set. The distinct lack of different levels is also somewhat distressing. There's something a bit "flat" about it. The NCC version seen in TUC is better, natch.
