I got bored and decided to do an exercise in scaling.

    This is the result.

Note that the Connie on both pages is the same size, providing a link to keep the ships on the 2nd page in scale with those on the first.

Yes, I know I've done more ships than this. And yes, some of the ships appeared under other names originally (such as my MU ships).

I like that. Some of these are actually quite good.

You know what occurs to me, especially with regard to the smaller ships:

Why are there little scale Constitution-class bridge modules on top of them all? You'd think the hardware would look different for something so small...

True...dirty little secret: FASA did that all the dang time. I tried putting "constant scale" bridge domes on the other ships and it was just a mess. Those little ships should be much bigger if I were being absolutely correct on scale.

Interesting that the two inner nacelles line up directly above the two shuttlebay clamshel doors.

I had this idea of a shuttlebay directly in front to two nacelles to either side modified so that the warp nacelles could act like a subspace catapult/warp magrail--so that the shuttles warp drive and the starships nacelles would interact slinging the shuttle aft at tremendous speed. Maybe with a soliton wave.

In another thread, I got pointed at a ship the poster wanted me to try my hand at doing something similar to. Here's the result:

    Majestic-class supercruiser (3 configurations)

I don't like how upright the "neck" is on that one. Lacks a certain gracefulness. Also, I'm no sure how I feel about the secondary hull being all curve. This is one I'd have to see in 3d to really judge. But i do like the pylons, I live the 1/4 Stargazer approach.

    Hmmm....

Well, in defense of the design, Excelsior class necks tend to be very vertical and "thick necked". The swan-neck style (a la a Connie) wouldn't work with that 2ndary...

    *edit*

This does look a little better I think...
