Has anyone heard any rumblings or rumors about a third installment of the "Trekkies" documentary series? It seems like a good time, with the new movie and the resurgence of interest in Trek.

I'm a big fan of the first two films. I just re-watched Trekkies 2 last night.

Do we really need another one of those?

Aren't we already made out as fools to 95% of the population!

I saw the first one and felt deeply insulted. Ok sure I spent the last week watching every all 7 season of DS9. 17 hours a day sitting and watching TV. But this isn't somethign I do all the time. It's my last week before college. I don't go around wearing a Starfleet uniform or a Klingon.

I think Denise is just pissed off that she got killed when TNG was still bad.

Yeah, I didn't really appreciate the movie's perpetuating negative stereotypes about Star Trek fans either. I didn't find the movie very insightful or entertaining. It just made me feel sorry for all the terribly screwed up people in it, and even made me a little ashamed of being a Star Trek fan, just because it sort of associates me with those weirdos by default.

Denise Crosby is cool, though. I met her at a convention once. I was too shy to say anything but "it was nice to meet you", but I thought it was sweet how she said, "it was nice to me YOU!" very enthusiastically, as if I was famous or something. Nice lady. :)

I like watching the two Trekkies movies -- the second one shows slightly more normal fans, the guy who made his apartment into a Voyager enclave notwithstanding. They're like...convention substitutes for me. (If you only experienced the extreme parts of conventions, I suppose.)

The thing I hate most about people's reactions to my being a fan is thinking:
A: That I believe that it is all somehow real.
B: That because I like a sci-fi show that I also must belive in UFOs coming to Earth and that hey abduct people or whatever. :censored:

As much as I like the "Trekkies" movies, I wish Rod Roddenberry could get the money to finish "Trek Nation" which is supposed to take a friendlier look at Trek fandom. Plus, I'm in it :).

This is what I meant to say in my post, but it didn't come out as eloquently.

I agree with Biggshow! I would much prefer Trek Nation to a third Trekkies. To me, Rod seems to genuinely care for the show/legacy, while Denise seems to use it as a money making too, since she ditched the show early and now regrets itl.

I have both of the other Trekkies. Back in the mid 1990's there were plenty of Star Trek conventions to go to, and today there are none in my area. When I watch Trekkies it almost makes me feel like the convention is in my home.

No we don't and hopefully it will never be made.

Actually, with the new movie and the resurgence of interest in Trek, it would be almost a crime to do it.

I will only consent to a Trekkies 3 if it involves DeForrest Kelley coming back from the dead and punching George Lucas in the balls.
