The USS Monitor is a recently commissioned defiant class Federation starship. She is posted near the neutral zone between the United Federation of Planets and the Romulan empire. Despite both the acts of the Romulans and the Federation, Pirate Cartels are constantly waging war over regions of space within the Monitor's operation area. Recent intelligence has found cartel shipping lanes linking the Federation and the Romulans. Because of this, a standing order has been placed upon the Monitor to investigate any known pirate operations, and assist in the organization of any under the influence of one of the cartel's, in this regard the Monitor has been granted the ability to enter the neutral zone, recording all activity and reporting back to starfleet upon exit. Her main goal on the Monitor is to provide and active and invigorating role play experience through mixing departments into manageable sizes, providing in-depth missions, individual character plots and tasks as well as an rich back story. One thing is for certain, the balance of power has shifted, and now the Federation and Klingon Empire both try to capitalize on these changes. Starbase Prime has been built to extend Starfleets influence in the former Romulan territories and to explore and hold the peace in the nearby sector. Among the Starbases duties are to protect civilian shipping, provide humanitarian relief to impoverished Romulan planets, and to keep the Klingon Empire at bay. After an catastrophic event with the ancient gate portal a ribbon of space appeared on the doorstep of Starbase Prime. Its origin is unknown and the starbase's main task is to guard it but also to carefully explore the phenomena. The rift has puzzled many scientists and its well-known that the law of physics does not always apply in the rift. It's claimed to be a rift in space and time continuum, often heard garbled messages from the past, present and the future, and signals in unknown languages. Ghost ships appear and fade near it, and time flows in strange directions. The opening has driven some mad with the single desire to enter it, and they will stop at nothing to succeed. Starbase Prime struggles to keep the curious and the called away from the quarantine zone around the rift. Vanguard Station, commanded by Captain Rose Kelley, lies near the Cardassian Demilitarized Zone. All junior personnel positions are open, as well as the senior staff science position. The station also comes with its own fighter squad, and there are several pilot slots that can be filled. Finally, we intend to launch two additional ships around September. The USS Indefatigable, an Intrepid-class ship commanded by Captain Winston Cummings, has its Chief Medical Officer and Chief Science Officer slots available, as well as numerous junior staff positions.
